Exeggutor with Confusion/Seed Bomb

Confusion / Seed Bomb is very solid for gym defense. The reason Psychic is a better move for D is that most people who attack into Exeggutor do so with pokes that resist grass moves, like Dragonite / Arcanine, or big pokes like Snorlax. People aren't usually going to attack into Exeggutor with a water / rock mon - or anything else weak to grass moves - so having two psychic moves is good against most attackers.

That being said, Seed Bomb is a low energy move that the defender can basically spam against an opposing attacking mon, and it's more difficult to dodge all of them. Depending on the pokemon level / IVs, I would consider powering this guy up for gym defense.

Seed Bomb isn't as good as Psychic, but for defense purposes it's far superior to Solar Beam, which is an easy dodge.

Exeggutor's charge moves are all relatively close for defense. It doesn't have any majors duds like some other pokemon do. There is a much greater difference between its fast moves. Confusion deals more damage and charges more energy on defense. Any Exeggutor with Confusion will be a good choice for a defender.

*The one main advantage of Zen Headbutt on defense is the slightly shorter duration makes it harder to use X-Scissor sucessfully in between dodges. But it is often teammates trying to prestige that are utilizing the bug weakness, so making that harder is just as much a drawback, imo.

I have a couple of these, debating powering them up. Probably will but my highest right now is 2250 cp with confusion and solar beam so I'm doing that first. Solar beam is way better on offense in my experience (I don't dodge much) so it depends what you are looking for. If u need a big grass to attack save the candies for a shot at solar beam. But if u want to put it in gyms go ahead and power it up.

Seed bomb is pretty good for gym defense, better than Solar Beam because it is hard to dodge. If it has good IV and you want an Exeggutor defender, go ahead and power it up!!
