Creating whole boards of blisseys?

I've saw people who like to show off their board of 12 or so blisseys, most over 3000cp. What is the point of this?

The blissey slot should be the first one to be taken over when a gym is occupied and likely not by me, they are useless for attacking gyms or raids (In gyms you can use them to kill dragonites but they hit like a wet noodle. In raids don't even think about it) and 3000cp blisseys are ridiculously hard to get.

So what is the point? Showing off? Or are those areas where people hoard blisseys having less gym activity so they can basically control most of the gyms in town?

I can't speak for all, but some people live in high density areas, and the only gyms they can take are the rail stations/lunch areas to/from work.

With such a high turnover, Blissey is probably the only thing that could last 10 mins with berry feeding to grant you that 1 coin. Multiply this to each other gym you are lucky to hold for 10 mins, and that's probably your only way of hitting the daily income cap.

EDIT: Conversely, 3k+ Blisseys are NOT the solution to low activity areas. Unless you like burning golden berries on motivation decay, there are better alternatives in those situations.

I think the real question we need to ask is what is the point of this post? And, by extension, what is the point of Mr-ex777?

I would imagine in most cases, the dozen Blisseys are a leftover from past era and old gym system. Before the revamp of gyms, players were able to put same type of pokemon into the gym (up to total of 10 pokemon in max level gym) and so seeing towers full of Blissey and Snorlax were really common. Take this picture I found from google for example:

With our current gym system, I wouldn't waste dust to power up more than 1 Blissey at max

High density areas, leftovers from old meta or showing off are all possibilities. One of our old gym giants still has 10+ Blisseys and keeps working on that army just for fun.

When you have them 100% it's an easy decision to max it out for its defense power.

And you live in a high turnover area yourself, you should know better.

It's true, there are an increasing number of pokemon hitting harder than ole Blissey, but it's TDO rocks.
I use to do gyms with a friend of mine. A p/dg Blissey each we just walk through every line of defense like a pair of 600 pound nurses on their way home in a bad mood after a 10 hour shift on a weekend.
I like Blissey a lot.

Not saying so many are needed or worth investing but I will mention on why Blissey is the 1st slot and that is because it’s the best wall regardless of moveset and that not everyone can break through and keep safe a 10 cp pidgey + it being first means the attacker has no option of entering the encounter with full energy from the start

I believe it is from the old gym meta, where blissey is the king of gym defender..
Now, why not use it if you already have one. Still annoying in high turnover gym area when the motivation is fresh, and quite usefull if you want to keep the gym under your colour when a desirable raid about to begin for the sake of gym control..

We raid with a guy that uses Blisseys back to back to back regardless of Raid boss or number of raiders. He will announce at the beginning of the raid ''Don't worry guys I've got 5 blisseys''.
Bless his heart!
