Raid Egg Timer bug?
Less than 30 minutes ago I dropped off a Pokemon in a brand new gym that popped up in my neighborhood. There was no Raid Egg
when I left. I came home and checked again and there's an Egg on that same gym with 6 minutes left to hatch. Has anyone every encountered this? Or has Niantic stealth reduced Egg duration to 30 minutes?

I've seen 2 (T2) eggs pop up on gyms at the same time, one with 6 minutes to go and one with 59 minutes.
I've also have had T5 eggs pop up with less than 30 minutes to go, on gyms that I had taken over just a few minutes ago, . I'll have to thank Niantic for those, less golden berries to feed when other teams are fighting for gym control.
I've noticed that the game sometimes seems to lag in notifying me of changes in the area - particularly if there are no new spawns.
So say at 10:00 a Pokémon spawns in the area, and I catch it in less than 1min. It was to be here for 30min. 30min goes by and another Pokémon spawns - then suddenly one of the Gyms in my area has an Egg on it with 31min left. This has happened in my area a number of times. (not to this extreme, mind you; normally I see it with 50min to go, or at most 45min to go)
It's not consistent enough to be able to document it. And it isn't exactly like your situation - mine seems to only happen when I'm in a place that doesn't have a large amount of Pokémon spawning. I don't know if it's just an issue of my phone not updating regularly, if the server doesn't push all Raid "Notifications", or if there is something else going on - like how it doesn't track individual footsteps, but it checks every 2min to see where your position is and if you've moved "too far", you don't get the distance travelled.
But I HAVE seen something similar to what you've noticed.
