Whars worth maxing in your opinion?

I wonder which mons you think are worth maxing? I have a Groudon maxed, 2 Dragonite, Golem, Exeggutor and Machamp. I am pretty low on rare candy after the Groudon max out. I will probably go with a Gyarados next. For Raikou I chose to power up two instead of one to the max since I wasn't too lucky there. Rhydon? Blissey? I don't have a Tyranitar worth maxing unfortunately :( anything else you have maxed?

I have also maxed Alakazam and 2 Espeon. The others are 2 Dragonite, 2 ttar, 2 Golem, a Machamp, a Gary, and a BS/SoB Eggy and Blissey.

I'm not a fan of those two glass cannons to be honest but if I would ever get a 100% high level eevee I would probably also max an Espeon just for the sake of it passing 3k. So next in line will be Gyarados and then maybe Blissey. Still have a second Machamp I want to max but thats a long term project. Omastar too if he ever gets a eock auick move again!

I only really Max the useful ones of 97.8 or 100 IV.
Which means... only one Dragonite, one Gyarados, one Golem and one Raikou...
The useful ones with not that good IV i only power them up to their breakpoints.

Many of my local players vouch for this as well- they slack it to 96% as well to give you more than just 4 options (100% and the 3 97.8% combination). Ultimately it is everyone's own playstyle, but a 96%+ pretty much reaches the 'no ragrets' bit, for months or even years down the line.

It is very easy to outdo a 91% if you can still catch the pokemon, but it is very hard to outdo a 96%.

lvl40: 2x Dragonite, Blissey, Machamp
lvl38: Zapdos, Machamp, 2x Gyarados
lvl36: 2x Tyranitar
lvl35: Raikou, Groudon, Gardevoir.

I kinda regret powering up gyarados to lvl38. :(

Dear OP if you have any 96% Ttar I would max it, it is really that good. Alternatively I'd still take an 87%+ to level 30 if you do not have a roster of Ttar to deal with Mewtwo if you do encounter one. 75k dust and 70 or so candies is easy to swallow down the line.

For me my current roster of maxed out level 40 is:
Groudon X1 (SB) < 96
Ttar X2 (SE and Crunch) <96, 96
Dnite X3 (Outrage X2 and Claw) <100, 98, 98
Gyarados X1 (Dragon Pulse)

Raikou X1 (WC) <100%
Zapdos X1 (TB) <93%
Machamp X1 (DP) <98%
Exeggutor X1 (Confusion+Solar) <91%

Interestingly my newest project is Articuno. It's not going to be in my top 12 but will beat all the weather boosted raid bosses and machamp/exeggutor. A good prep for Rayquaza but i also happened to want to clear up some bag space by dumping candy.

I always read how great tyranitar is, but I really never use one in any situation. Am I doing something wrong?

Not really, its the mvp for mewtwo and alakazam ans drops to just 'good' for the generalist role. The biggest thing going for it is double resisting psychic so zen headbutt from snorlax and blissey does no damage to it. Also rounds out dragonites weaknesses or things it doesnt resist to complement your gym sweepers.

Thank you for reading back and answering. I got 3 tyranitar levelled because I anticipated on Mewtwo, but never got an invite.

They have indeed a good use for Alakazam raids. But other than that, I never use them for any match up in gym battles or tier 4/5 raids. Which is a pity.

I have a 96% B/C at Lv 40 that is great for sweeping demotivated or third round gyms. The energy gain is fast and crunch hits hard with little energy waste. I have a vaporeon with AT that I use a lot for this purpose as well.

I understand, but I still find it underwhelming as a generalist. For example, for a very low decayd Blissey I rather have a Machamp/Mewtwo/Dragonite than a tyranitar.

Mewtwo... ?

Mons I have maxed for their usefulness at some point or another:
1 Groudon 98%
3 Tyranitar 100%, 98%, 96%
2 Dragonite 100%, 98%
1 Snorlax 96%
1 Raikou 96%
1 Rhydon 98%
2 Gyarados 98%, 96%
2 Blissey 93%, 84% (15a)
1 Vaporeon 93%
1 Golem 98%
1 Exeggutor 93%
1 Machamp 100%

Additionally I have Lugia, Espeon, Flareon and Jolteon maxed but those are bad investments (and I knew it when I made them). I just happen to like them.

Currently I'd say Tyranitar, Machamp, Raikou, Kyogre, Groudon and to a lesser extent Dragonite are the top mons to invest in. I would definitely recommend against maxing Gyarados now unless soloing Ninetales is a goal you want to accomplish, because there isn't much to do with water mons currently. Rhydon is also not worth maxing now because there isn't anything to do with it.
Honestly one mon I'd consider in the near future is Piloswine. A maxed ice mon is a great asset in Rayquaza raids and it will become monstrous when it evolves to Mamoswine.

But it all comes down to what you want to accomplish in the game. I'm considering maxing Houndoom and Scizor just so I can solo C/FB Alakazam with 6 unique mons, but I would certainly not recommend most players to put a single speck of dust into either one.

Blissey, Mewtwo, Machamp, Raikou would be my top and worth to mention, because I feel like they are the most relevant in the game.

If you don't have a Mewtwo, you could replace that by a Dragonite or perhaps the upcoming requiza

Edit; maybe metagross once it gets released

In general, I think a squad of something for raids is better than one maxed out something. So, there are three cases where it makes sense to me to max something out: 1) As part of a gym clearing squad, since you can only take 6 with you (1 Ho-oh for beating down the ever-present blissey, 1 Machamp, 1 Dragonite, 1 Raikou, 1 Tyranitar. There is also a level 30 C/FB Mewtwo on the squad). 2) As a defender, 1 Blissey. 3) Because I really like a mon and just want to max it out. I have lots of candidates for this: Scyther, Eggs, Zappy...), but haven't done any, yet.

For most mon, I have the resources (dust, candy) to max one out, if I really want to. Mostly, I just keep it as potential though, for the next time the meta changes.

I've maxed:
Gengar
Dragonite
Gyarados
Gardevoir
Blissey
Rhydon (x2)
Espeon
Umbreon
Golem (x2)
Poliwrath

The Gengar (SC), Gardevoir, and Golems were all post-gym-rework/Gen 2/raids. The Espeon and Umbreon were just because. Poliwrath is my personal fave. The others were for the CP back in the day.

My list of Lv 40s includes a Ttar, Dragonite, Vaporeon, Espeon, Jolteon, Sceptile, & Exeggutor.

I'll end up maxing my Raikou, Machamp, a second Dragonite, Flareon, a Kyogre and hopefully, someday a Mewtwo or two. The eeveelutions are just for fun, though I've found them surprisingly useful.

All are IV 95.6% or higher.

Everyone!
I try to Max as many as possible, 115 at lvl 40 so far. It feels like I care for my dex that way :-)
Which one to begin with?
1) those you need
2) those you like
3) maybe some 100%
4) some really weird ones
5) those that cost less to max
6) the rest

Any of your favorites.

If they have type advantage they do just fine in crowded raids.

You can use really anything to sweep gyms. Use what you like.
