12/12 announcement just a fake?

So far this rumour seems to be bogus. I notice that there were earlier rumours claiming that gen 2 would go live on December 8.

That would be weird if John Hanke said they were making an announcement today via social media and Niantic did not follow through.

It's still pretty early on the west coast, so maybe no one is in their office yet.

They announced about info becoming available on dec 12 in the post about Sprint here: http://pokemongolive.com/en/post/

Turns out you were right and I was wrong. :-)

I had no reason to read the announcements regarding Sprint or Starbucks since they only applied to a small and isolated part of the world. Information regarding global matters should not be hidden in such announcements, imho.

Seems they made this announcement at 18.26 UTC, the day was almost over.

They are making an announcement, but I just think all this Gen 2 stuff is wild expectation run amok. The press release was cryptic enough to mean anything. I think shiny 'mons is more likely than anything and that's what they mean by "NEW."

Of course, I've been wrong before...
