Thoughts on upcoming update on 2/28/2018?
Just recently saw this from a tweet on the official Pokemon Go Twitter page: https://pokemongo.nianticlabs.com/en/post/iphone5discontinuedsupport
I read many of the comments to the tweet, and it doesn't look like a lot of people are too happy about this update coming in a month. People from the comments are saying it could potentially backfire on Niantic by losing many more of its players since they can't afford to upgrade to iPhones that will be supported by this update. What do you guys think this update will entail? Do you think it'll be a big one, or just one with minor tweaks to the game?

I prefer iOS and macOS above android and windows. 50% of my job is somewhat creative
And I feel a lot more open and a lot less confined in the Apple environment. Also the texture and general feeling of quality, in my opinion, is better.
I know it’s probably not the most value for money but I can live with it and I think its worth it.
However i think that Iphone x is a downgrade of the 7+ in terms of control aspect.
The pokemon details screen is so stretched out that you cannot see the head of some pokemon like Lugia, If you curveball you may actually touch the bottom of the screen and you "Curve" the minimization of the app or even worse minimize pokemon go when you straight throw, the screen is much smaller and If you tried to curveball it returns the ball onto the original place more often possibly due to the smaller screen size.
I am more interested in what update to the game it is that makes these old phones obsolete. From the list of announcements on this website I would guess we are all going to get AR+ mode (which currently requires iOS 11+). This would entail a shift of the games focus from arena fights back to catching. Now I wonder how Niantic will try to get players to use AR+ mode, as currently nobody seems to use the AR mode in earnest. Maybe more stardust or candy from Pokemon caught in AR+?

It seems enhancements in AR mode will most certainly be the biggest factor that this update will introduce to the game that will require supported iOS devices. As for other potential improvements, who knows. The weather system was a big change to the game that came out a month ago, so it's unlikely that an update this soon will include other features as major as the weather system, but we shall see soon.
