Is Ninetales 15 minutes of fame over?

A local player soloed Ninetales yesterday, with a little help from weather boost. That inspired me to look at some simulations with WF/HP Gyarados, and it looks like it outperforms RT/SE Golem, and even the coveted RT/HP or RT/RS Omastar. Frankly, it looks like Ninetales should now be pretty straightforward with a team of 4-5 level ~37 WF/HP Gyaradoses, even without a weather boost.

I suppose a lot of people will want to do it once, just to check it off the list, but if Ninetales becomes fairly routine, will anyone care about it anymore? It's not like Ninetales, or its candies, have any usefulness in the meta.

I'm hoping that when Ho-oh is over it will trigger a whole new set of raids, perhaps more Gen 3 ones. But I tired soloing the Ninetales and it didn't work and i never cared much about trying again.

It is exactly as you said, nobody really cares that much unless you do it without weather boosts and without Gyaradoses. That'll stay a rare achievement, but with how many people have 3k+ Garys from the old gym system soloing it with them isn't really that special. The first video of it was out literally 1-2 hours after the update went live.

Haven't powered my Garys up yet but since it's the best water type and I like it, I'll make the team required for the solo so that I can check off the accomplishment and move on.

I took this chance to have maxed out my 100% Gyarados!
