What to do with outclassed Legacy Moves?

I have a 96% Alakazam with PC/P that is powered up to level 33. I have been holding off switching the moves and powering up further until a move rebalance that made Psychic great again. That obviously didn't happen. Is it now worth it to TM Psychic away to get Futuresight? For reference, I have another level 30 89% Alakazam with PC/FS, and a couple in the high 20s with IVs in the 80s.

Also, I have a single Gyarados at level 32.5 with DT/HP (magikarp are rare and I currently have only 315 candy towards a second one). This is an obvious candidate for a Fast TM.... right? any reason to keep Dragon Tail?

You may want to consider making that Gyarados DT/O, since there wouldn't otherwise be a method of obtaining a double dragon non-dragon type Pokemon. It's up to you though, as Ice types still make quicker work of dragons, and Gyarados is obviously very popular right now as the premier Water-type. You're pretty close to another Gyarados, but who knows if they'll take Hydro Pump away (I personally don't see this happening soon).

Alakazam's only merit is the hope that move statistics will change. It's not impossible, but not extremely likely. Then again, you already have another Alakazam with Future Sight, and Psychic isn't a ton worse anyhow (unless you use iPhone 5).

This time around, the releases come In batches, along with a batch of new moves. The first batch was predominantly water-related. Wait for the new batch with new psychic moves, then decide.

W/H is probably the more important moveset. If you have three or more Gyarados, then B/C and DT/O are nice luxuries. Ice is better against the current dragons, but there is the small concern that there are future dragons that are not double weak to ice.

I have 6 Gyarados and almost to my 7th which will start as a level 23 100%. I have an almost worthless shiny as B/C and a decent 2900 as DT/O. 2 highest rated ones as WF/HP. 2 other good ones as B/HP. However, Magikarp has evaporated during my area's grassfest, so I'm actually walking the Shiny--35 candies til 400.

Long ago I posted.

PC/P is stil on the DPS plus-side in raids against Gengar, Machamp etc; it is useful. I have 3 zams; C/P, PC/FS, PC/FS. Keep it. A couple of cTM is not worh the extra DPS If the DPS is enough already.

DT is better on defense but gyara has no real Use on defense. I would go for WF

I feel like moves gonna change after gen3 full release. They barely touched it.

Think they wanted to warn us about the weather attack adjustment, so they changed only a bit.

Future sight really is much better than psychic right now. For perspective, the difference is bigger than the difference between outrage and dragon pulse, or between overheat and fire blast. I TM'd a C/P 'Zam to get FS, and was amazed how much its performance in simulations improved. The same is true comparing simulations between my C/P and C/FS Espeons.

In a vacuum, it would definitely be worth TM'ing the 'Zam, but charge TM's are a gamble, especially when parting with a legacy move, because there is only a one in three chance of getting the move you want. It took me six TM's to get shadow ball on my legacy SC/DP Gengar.

Also, there is the possibility of psychic getting buffed or improved (e.g. made two-bar again), which I too have been waiting for. While I have been very happy with FS on my old C/P 'Zam, I also have one with PC/P that I have left alone, along with a C/P Espeon.

Do you use your 'Zams mainly for raids, or gym battles? If for raids, you should consider fast TM'ing the PC/P 'Zam. PC is more user-friendly than confusion, but confusion puts out much more damage, and DPS is what you need for raids. Against Machamp or Gengar raid bosses, a C/P 'Zam will do as well as a PC/FS one. If your 'Zams are mainly for gym battling, where dodging is easier and there are no real time constraints, then you might prefer PC, despite the lower damage output.

If you haven't seen it yet, you should watch FunkySho's Alakazam psychic-type moveset comparison video:
