Entei v Flareon

Is Entei always superior? Assuming same IV and moveset, let's say FS/OH.

Thanks

Just have a look at the stats:
Flareon: 246 Atk 204 Def 130 Sta
Entei: 235 Atk 176 Def 230 Sta

That means Flareon is the glass cannon variant of Entei.

Flareon has slightly more DPS while Entei has a better power (damage output before it faints).

In full raids Flareon might give you that extra damage that will net you an additional ball, but if you do raids with fewer people instead your Entei will last much longer and you will get much more extra balls for defeating the boss with fewer people.

Edit: Note that Entei has less defense but more stamina. This could become an advantage because it gets hit marginally harder and gains marginally more energy in effect. So a scenario where Entei is able to just fire one more charge move is conceivable and it could be that Entei deals more damage in this scenario even though it has less attack.

Thanks so much for such a thorough explanation. Sounds like I should power the up both and use Flareon in raids with more attackers and Entei in raids with less. Probably use Entei in gyms as well?

Btw, I'm somewhat new to the game - is an 11pt differential in an ATK stat meaningful?

IVs are added to the base stats, then that value is multiplied by a constant for the pokemon's level (CPM, CP multiplier).

You can see each pokemon's base stats on its page. i.e.: https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/pokemon/244

Generally speaking, IVs have a lower relative impact on higher base stat values. So you at least want IVs that will bolster a pokemon's weaker base stats. But given that catching and grinding so many pokemon is the main game mechanic, it is natural to just want the best possible IVs even if they might not make too big a difference overall.

Fire isn't really usefull for the raids right now and for normal gyms every Pokemon is good enough anyway so I would wait.
Also keep in mind that the much better Ho-oh is comming at some point.
