Overview
Machamp is on the easy side of tier 3 raids to solo - its defense is unimpressive and its attack isn’t particularly high, either. Additionally, it’s weak to some of the highest DPS attackers in the game and has hard counters in the form of Mewtwo and Lugia. With a half-decent team, the timer isn’t an issue in this fight.
Survival, on the other hand, could be a problem, especially for lower level trainers not packing Mewtwo or Lugia. Machamp’s charge moves all have fairly early damage windows and thus are tricky to dodge, laying the hurt on frailer counters such as Alakazam and Espeon. Close Combat is not that strong and is used less frequently than Machamp’s other charge moves, making it the easiest variant to solo.
Approach
Team composition
-
Mewtwo is the VIP of this fight. Psystrike is best, but Psychic is a very close second.
-
Front load with any glass cannons that you may bring like Alakazam, Espeon, and Gardevoir
-
A Lugia powered up to its last Extrasensory breakpoint is an easy win when not facing Rockslide
Dodging strategy
- If failing: attempt fewer dodges if timing out, more dodges if fainting out
Counters
Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.
