Gym at morning or Gym at night?

Looking for the most efficient way to get my 50 coin per day.

If I join gyms in the morning, they're really easy to take down. The mons have lost most of their motivation overnight. But, those gyms will be lost later in the day and I won't get 50 coin from any one them - I'll need to take over 6-9 of them and watch my 50 coin trickle in a bit at a time.

If I hit gyms at night, the mons are more motivated and harder. But, if I join three, generally one of them will hold overnight and be lost the next day. That gets me my 50 coin - from that one gym.

most efficient way... find gyms with low turnover and get a second account or make a deal with a friend. that's the message Niantic sent.

My city has very high turnover during the day, so I have the most success when I take over gyms at night.

Don't go by time of day - go by gym history. My local gym is taken down every day between 6am and 8am as people who work in the building the gym is associated with get to work around that time. So I generally take down that gym after my daughters go to bed.

However, there's a... trainer... in my area who loves to go around every Saturday evening between 8pm and 11pm and take down every gym in the area. 20 gyms in the area and at that time of week, he takes down every one. He doesn't care how long someone has been on the gym, he's taking it down. Every bloody gym. Which is aggravating, but also means that I know if I take down a few of the gyms on Saturday I'm going to get my 50 coins when this ... trainer... does his thing.

Other gyms I don't bother taking for coins - for one of the gyms I'm regularly a part of, I won't get more than 2 coins before someone else takes it because it's in a high traffic area with lots of university students.

So take a few gyms down that you think would be easiest for you to get to and take down regularly. See when they get taken from you, and plan accordingly. (also, when you see a random gym with room on it, toss on a Wobbuffet. Most trainers get the weirdest look on their face when they try to fight a Wobbuffet, like "Why... isn't... this... thing... getting... knocked... out?!?! ARGH! TYRANITAR IT! Wait, it's has... [censored]. [CENSORED!!!]") Occasionally you'll end up getting coins from those random gyms when your version of my local... trainer... comes by unexpectedly and destroys all your plans.

Night time seems like the best time, but only if you don't have many night owls. My city has plenty of those, and they're up at 3 AM taking over gyms. I prefer the daytime strategy, so I take over as many gyms as I can and I eventually get 50 in the evening when all or most gyms get stormed.

My strategy is to try and get in as many gyms as possible between 8-9 am. By that point most people are at work or are shifting their focus to raids. By the time I get out of work, I have only a few gyms left and all 50 coins. These remaining few gyms are usually frequented by night owls, so a lot of the time I have my 50 coins before I even start my 8-9am take over.

For my wife and I, we take gyms at night. We have better luck that way, as it seems people around us play during the day.

There's a triplet of gyms 2 minutes away from me, I usually either take 2 down at around 9pm, and the coins collected from both of them should give me 50 by 4am latest (accounting for the possibility of one gym being taken down before 12).

If I didn't maange 50 ( usually I still get 30+), I just to a friendly gym and put something stupid in it during the day (e.g. shiny magikarp, farfetched etc) to encourage other people to knock it out.

I do night. First off, try to have a set of 8-12 gyms you check out. I do it on my commute home. If one is your team and isn't full, easy, drop something in. Otherwise, check for ones that haven't turned over recently and the mon are low motivation. Or, if you're not gold in them yet, pick one that's high motivation, and take it out. Otherwise, look for targets of opportunity. If you don't take the low lying fruit, someone else will, and it's just as tasty as the harder to reach fruit, since coins are coins.

I try to be in 3-4 gyms by the time I come back home at night. Most of the time 1-2 will make it past midnight, usually taken down at 12:30 or at 5:00. So I usually wake up with my 50 coins for the day.
This type of strategy seems to work for most people.

I generally do both - couple gyms on the way to work, couple on the way home.

But I try to be respectful, especially if I've already gotten my coins for the day - in the morning, don't take a gym if someone has just taken it down. In the evening, I'll only take it if the mon has been in there over or close to eight+ hours. I've rarely missed getting my 50 for the day and if I do, it's usually by only a few coins.
