Power up and TM questions

1- I’d definitely power him up.

2- FB is a good move against Blissey and Snorlax and Shadow Ball is more neutral. Tough choice.

3- I wouldn't. Hurricane is a great move too.

4- Nope. Only if you like them for personal reasons.

5- I go for personal taste. I like some 100% to be maxed out and with ideal movesets. Other cool mons I simply put them on usable CPs (close to 2k) end put them on gyms. As for TMs, if I get a high level usable attacker (Machamp, Tyranitar...) I use TMs to get ideal moves for zero dust cost.

From the perspective of someone who does not have a Mewtwo, I think the two most useful movesets would be Confusion/Focus Blast as a generalist for clearing gyms and Psycho Cut/Shadow Ball as a specialist for psychic raid bosses.

Hey fella. Good questions so I'm gonna take my time and answer them from my own perspective.

1. Mewtwo is supposedly a better generalist than Dragonite or at least on par. Considering you have 15 attack stat and 3 million star dust I would certainly max him out.

I can't speak from practice, but from theory. Perhaps someone can add later his personal experience from a fighting point of view. Theoretically, Mewtwo has a use in both gyms and many raids. For this reason alone he's already worth the power up.

2. Confusion if you don't dodge, psycho cut if you do dodge.
   Focus blast if you intend to use him more for gyms and don't have a sufficient strong Machamp. Shadow ball other wise. In your case, I would go for shadow ball and keep using your Machamp for Blissey and Snorlax. Perhaps replace the generalist Dragonite by Mewtwo.
3. I owe Dragonite with both movesets. I strictly prefer outrage over hurricane, especially for gyms. I feel like the strength and double bar off sets the low speed of outrage compared to hurricane.
4. Plain and simpel: No. Even didn't power up my 100% Entei, because I have no use for him.
5. Attackers: Mewtwo, Tyranitar, Raikou, Machamp, Zapdos
   Defenders: Blissey

Contrary to what many may advice, I still find Blissey a worthy investment. It's pretty much the only defender that is able to win a battle or waste a significant amount of time from the attacker.

Attackers are pretty much based on the article of game press. I decided to exclude Dragonite, because I feel like one should hold off investments in Dragonite until December and we can find out how Salamance does compared to Dragonite. This is under the assumption that the player already has a Mewtwo/Dragonite available.

1. Humblebrag aside, Mewtwo is probably the most useful Pokemon in the game currently. Deals high neutral damage with Shadow Ball, which is also good at countering itself, ghosts and other psychic types, and Focus Blast covers what Shadow Ball is weak to - normal and dark types.
2. Keep Psycho Cut with Focus Blast if you're using it against Tyranitar because Tyranitar has double resistance to psychic moves, so you want the higher energy gain to be able to use your special more often rather than Confusion's higher damage which gets reduced anyway.

Against normal types Confusion and Psycho Cut are on par with each other, Confusion having slightly higher damage.

With Shadow Ball, again both moves are about on par with each other in a neutral setting, though if you're against a psychic type that resists Confusion you want Psycho Cut for the higher energy gain, most of your damage will come from your super effective charge move.

Don't bother with Psychic or Hyper Beam. Even against types that are weak to psychic moves, Shadow Ball is on par with it because of how much damage it does per 100 energy.

3. If you want. Both moves are great.
4. Entei, not right now. There's not a real need for a fire type attacker currently, but it and Moltres are the best fire types, so should a raid boss be released that Entei is good against, power it up.

Gyarados, personally I don't think so. As a water type attacker it's outclassed by Vaporeon, double Dragon moveset is bettered by generalists that have STAB and the double dark moveset isn't even that good against a Confusion + Focus Blast Mewtwo, which is the only moveset that you could argue it would be useful against because Psycho Cut + Focus Blast is easily beaten anyway due to Psycho Cut being terrible on defence - Confusion still wrecks Gyarados and it's kill time / DPS is low.

A Tyranitar despite being one-shot by Focus Blast if not dodged will still do more DPS and total damage than a Gyarados before fainting.

If you want to be fully prepared for Gen 3 and current movesets potentially becoming legacy, try to get at least one of each of the relevant attackers with their best movesets and maybe some of the A- ones as well in case they're buffed.

For example Close Combat Machamp, Zap Cannon Zapdos, Hurricane Dragonite.

My Mewtwo is 12/12/10 and at 30...3314. I have it as Confusion/Shadow Ball. At one point or another it has been everything though. About to shift to PC/Shadowball for a while. I don't use it all that much. Machamp and Dragonite moreso. Right now I'm happier taking a 96% EX/SA Lugia higher than worrying about this Mewtwo or a potential next one. If I get a 91% Mewtwo I'd probably take it to 35. A 93% to 36. A 96% to 37. 98% to 38. 100% to max. It definitely is a shark...just not Bruce the shark like many of those that don't have one yet are hoping for.

1) I'm thinking of trying to get a C/P and C/FB Mewtwo to lv30, and hopefully my next one is as good or better than yours so I can try for SB and max it out.

2) you pretty much nailed it FB is good vs normal types, and will resist many of their moves.

3) I did exactly this, TM'ed my 98 nite from Hu to Outrage, then a week later caught a 100% with HB TM got Outrage as well.

4) I don't plan on it

5) the best ones first (meta & iv), then the useful ones (meta only), then good ones (semi-useful with near perfect Iv) last.
