Why is Mr. Mime a 5K buddy, and the others are 3K? I thought Mr. Mime wasn't good, so why the different walking length?

Mr Mime used to be a 10km egg. Buddy distance initially was tied to egg distance, but never changed when eggs started shifting around.

2km eggs: 1km buddy
5km eggs and starters: 3km buddy
10km eggs: 5km buddy

Buddy distance was never directly tied to egg distance. That was a common misconception. There was a strong correlation, but there were always exceptions. For example, the gen 1 starters were originally hatched in 2K eggs, but they were always 3K buddies.
