Confusion+Seedbomb Defensive Exeggutor

Hi!

My question is the following:

I have a high IV fully evolved (for my level) Confusion+Seedbomb Exeggutor.

The latest Gym Defenders Tier List places Exeggutor on the C- Tier but it doesn't explain what are the best moves for a defensive Exeggutor.

Is a Confusion+Seedbomb Exeggutor still viable, good or relevant? Or should I look for another combination?

Thanks!

That moveset is arguably his best defensive set. Confusion Solar Beam is numerically better on paper, but in reality he is so easily destroyed by Tyranitar and any fire or bug attacker that Solar Beam may never actually be fired. You can at least get off one maybe two Seed Bombs.

Confusion seed bomb is the best defensive exeggutor moveset.

I think it has lost its charm for a couple of reasons:

  1. Other than dragonite it is wrecked by tyranitar as well, which is common now due to raids. Not to mention Moltres and articuno also make counters.
  2. If you still have a confusion exeggutor by this stage it may be in your interest to TM it to solar beam because it is a fantastic attacker, rather than have a so-so defender

I didn't want to start a whole new thread for this.

I have a Confusion/Psychic Exeggutor at level 36.5. Would you keep it as is or TM it to Solar Beam?

I mainly use it for Machamp and Gengar raids, as well as an occasional gym defender. I have a few other level 30 Zen Headbutt and Extrasensory Exeggutor with Solar Beam.

While Exeggutor does get wrecked by Tyranitar, I think it is a good speed bump to place in between a Blissey and Snorlax to force the attacker to switch out Machamp.

The common gym scene contains Blissey, Lapras, Snorlax, chansey (soso common Tyr) in my area and fighting can be the gym sweeper.

Also covers Vaporeons, Venusaurs, Jolteons and other great specialists against some common defenders.

yes it's a great defensive move set... but I use my 2600CP one only once a week in gyms... it's so weak to houndoom in particular.

I keep mine but if you don't have a lot of solar beam exeggs, may be a good idea to try to get some by TM before they (maybe) disappear with a (possible) move set reshuffle when gen3 (eventually) comes out
