Both easy to dodge. Best is body slam.
Yes eq is a counter to rhydon. But if u sleep to dodge the hyperbeam is gameover. Eq is forgivable .
Hb not.
Best is body slam anyway for defense and maybe attack too.
I have a 100% iv 3043 cp snorlaz with lick bodyslam. But maybe the 2926 with lixk hyperbeam bettwr for attack and defense
Earthquake Snorlax (Defender List)
I'm of the opinion that Earthquake Snorlax should be definately higher than Hyperbeam Snorlax in rating and perhaps the same as Body Slam Snorlax
1st) Hyperbeam is the easiest move to dodge in the game. As such, even though it has stab over Earthquake it is by far the worst defending moveset.
2nd) Earthquake is harder to dodge because the animation can hide the flash.
3rd) Now that Rhydon got powered up and is the "Snorlax Counter", Earthquake covers the Rhydon Weakness much the same as Ice Punch/Ice Beam being good defending moves for pokemon like Slowbro and Poliwrath

EQ is definitely better than it used to be, but I still think Body Slam is the best. EQ is one of the easiest moves to dodge IMO, and even though it's super effective on Rhydon it doesn't get STAB, so the damage isn't huge anyway.
Ice moves are better for defensive coverage as they hit Dnite's double weakness.
I agree on HB being weak because it gives you what feels like a decade to dodge, though. Even with lag, I've only been hit by that move once so far. And I'm not especially good at dodging, I get hit by a lot.
I can't agree more. This is something that is really hard to get others to understand. I know I often lose time that I could be dealing out damage because I stop to early. When I get into the rhythm of attacking and dodging the quick moves, I then end up not attacking during the lead up to Hyper Beam. More important than watching for the yellow flash to know when to dodge, I have to watch for subtle changes in the animation to know when to keep attacking.
Body Slam is not that hard to dodge if you are already dodging the quick moves. The long build up on Hyper Beam certainly makes it easy to dodge also, but the change in timing makes it hard to fully utilize time that I could be attacking.
I don't agree the slightest. Most decent players will dodge all of the moves. While Body Slam is quite close to Hyper Beam in terms of damage output and therefore making it really good for defense as it is slightly harder to dodge than Hyper Beam, that is not the case with Earthquake. Earthquake is by far the worst charge move for Snorlax. It deals over 20% less damage than Hyper Beam and it's also very easy to dodge.
Against a decent player, Earthquake will always deal the least damage of the charge moves.
Also, I don't think that the animation "hides the flash", more like just makes it easier to notice because they both come together.
In my opinion:
Body Slam > Hyper Beam >>>>>>>>> Earthquake
Not all "decent" players will dodge "all" the moves. That's just being elitist. The top players, not decent, will dodge all the moves.
Meanwhile, regular players who are actually in the cold weather, receiving texts, entertaining their children, walking dogs, messing with their car radio, smoking a cigarette, talking to a passerby, or in a hurry do get hit by many different moves so long warm up animations do make a massive difference. Just my two cents, and probably many others.
I get hit by body slam all the time. Sometimes EQ, never HB. I've done many many gym battles. I know the mechanics, I'm excellent at games in general. I'm just saying there is more to consider than a regular sit down game.
I've made 2 posts about snorlax earthquake. A lot of new players see lists put out and aim for Zen/HB and disregard body slam.
HB should really be moved to "b" or at least moved beneath body slam. I've been stuck trying to decide between EQ and HB for a month now.
It should be obvious to choose HB, but I really don't think it's that blatant of a clear choice.
The majority of players are casual, that's a fact. Most people get texts. Most players are over 18, and a lot of adults have children. Etc. I'm just stating facts dude. No matter how much people want this to be a hardcore game it never will be.
Did i say the majority of players are entertaining children? No. Did i say people are not fully engaged at all times. Yes. 100%. It's made for people WITH lives.
Agaisnt Snorlax's Primary counter EQ does about the same as HB. EQ has lower power but is super effective. HB gets STAB and higher power but is resisted.
Against the mostly likely attacker (Dragonite) HB does much better than EQ. HB is higher power and STABed. EQ is lower power and resisted.
I don't think the moveset rankings have been changed at all on Snorlax's page since the update so I do agree I'd probably move ZH/EQ to the 3rd best defending set (Ranked B).
This is a low skilled game. If you think you bring stuff to the table that others dont with gym fighting your wrong. Even when Im in a hurry, stoned, buzzed and talking to my GF I still dodge HB/FB/Blizzrd and Solar Beam. The wind ups are ridiculous on all these moves. I think EQ is slightly better then HB.
Anyways why dodge everything when you have 1000 items and you know you can take down a level 10 gym and never really get hit?
Keep telling yourself that. Haha. Earthquake is the worst of the three. I had to come to terms with it myself because I got earthquake on my 98 IV snorlax. I spent an hour searching online to give me some hope that earthquake was the best on snorlax or equal to HB and BS. Nope. EVERY charge move is EASY to dodge. Are we talking about POGO or Mortal Combat?
