People wait till tge end of the month to power up your beast
I keep seeing questions of people asking which beast should they power up. You all need to wait till the month ends because you still have that chance of the 100 and imagine if you put all your dust and candies into 91% raikou then caught a 100 the next day. That would suck

I need to point out that there's a cost of doing so.
If I power up my Raikou right away, I can use it in the next gym battle to slaughter Gyarados/Vaporeon. If I wait till the end, then I can't enjoy the power of Raikou for 20 days, and it isn't guaranteed that you will get a better one in the next 20 days (in fact, my best Articuno is my first one!). As you see, there is some time value in your early decision.
So I think there are two factors to consider when deciding whether to power up your current best beast:
1. How good are his IVs;
2. How many beast raids do you expect to do in the remaining days.
The higher the IV and the less beast raids you plan to do, the more you should power it up right away, and vice versa. For me, I will stop using paid passes if I already acquired a 96iv+ beast and then I will give priority to T-tar raids with my daily free pass.
But if you are using paid passes and expect to do a lot of raids regardless, then you probably should wait till the end of the month.
Just playing Devil's Advocate here. But what's stopping someone from using their best Raikou in gym battles at level 20 until the end of the month? Given the current state of gyms, it's very do-able. For example, Articuno isn't high on my list to power up, so I've left my best candidate at 20. Even at that level, it's flown through several Dragonites with relative ease.
I'm not usually one to exhibit patience and have a history of powering things up very prematurely. I admit to having an 80% Lugia sitting at level 25 to attest to that. (I later caught a 91% that ended up being my best.) So this time, I'm forcing myself to wait. It also helps that I have participated in four Raikou raids where someone in the party had a 100%. Two of them caught it. It could be me next. (Probably not, given my relationship with RNG. But there's always hope.)
I started 1 for 7 on Raikou...since then: 10 for 13. Early on you can get a false sense of the situation. Tuesday thru Saturday 1 (free) pass a day, so I might end up with 20 having only really "tried" the first weekend. Let yourself get past any lower luck you might be having, then start thinking about powering up
While in general I consider this great advice, it all depends. A particular factor I've noticed in my area is that since there is currently only one legend available at a time, the bulk of the less hardcore players have dropped off in interest rather quickly once they catch one, since there aren't multiple legends at once like there were with the birds. I managed a respectable 89%, perfect Attack Raikou my first day, and though I've been trying to do more raids, I haven't managed to find one others are willing to show up for in at least a week. Granted, I also haven't powered up a single legend yet, since I want to save my rare candy for a possible mewtwo.
