Has PoGO changed the speed limit for buddy & egg hatching or has my Nexus4' GPS improved?

I have noticed the past couple of days that the distance counter on my buddy mon & eggs updates more frequently and as such the slightest distance moved is added on in shorter intervals than previously ( which was after every 4mins if I'm not mistaken)
