Does throw accuracy even matter?

I've done lots of legendary raids now, and throwing great or excellent curved w/ golden razz seems to make NO DIFFERENCE in whether I catch them. My last 10 raids I threw 90% great curved w/ golden, and 8 of them broke out and ran.

I just saw Trainer Tips video where he said he's having better luck w/ bad throws.

What's your experience?

My concern: when you practice throwing skills, and it makes NO DIFFERENCE, while you see others succeed w/ terrible straight tosses, it results in a pretty shitty playing experience. IMO any game in which you're unrewarded for skill and punished for bad luck is a badly designed game.

I'll always try to do the best throws with golden razz, but sometimes I can't properly hit the inner circle or didn't get the curveball bonus (even if the ball curves) and sometimes i've managed to catch a legendary bird with a so so throw (missed the inner circle, inner circle too big, curveball ignored) but most of the times i catch them with better throws, but RNG with so low odds is always RNG, and makes peoples belive in placebo tricks (like nanab) because someone got lucky even with lower odds

I was with the same question. With all great and excellent curved and span throws the mon run out the ball. Then I started with direct "shots" and even without the golden berry the catch rate improved very much. E.g. with curved excellent throws it was 1 mon of 8 and with direct balls I had 4 mons of 4.

Maybe it has to do with the RAID PASS because i lost 5 consecutive catches when i used the passes i collected from the same pokestop. As soon i changed where i collect my passes my i caught Zapdos on my first throw.
Something to consider!

I have the same doubts as you...I have to say that on Zapdos I am seeing excellents may be have an impact (I am currently 7/9 and throwing more than 50% of my balls excellent with him). But with greats I am seeing the same as you...Probably just bad luck but on Lugia I am not able to get the same accuracy and I go for greats (w/golden razz always), and I am only on 5/20...The % is extremely low in my opinion for a player that can get great on 90%+ of the balls...And I saw the same pattern with moltres, got 3/9 with him and my curves and greats seemed to not make any impact.

I have seen players catching 100% Lugia without curveball, great, excellent or any other bonus except for the berry. The same with other players with Zapdos. I was starting to think I should throw like a small kid just straight without trying that hard to be accurate? I don't know but Niantic have made me hate Lugia raids, not attending to them anymore.
