Feeding berries to full hp pokemon in gyms

So I noticed you can feed berries to your pokemon in the gyms when your physically at the gym. What effect does this have?

Do they have a reserve of berries then and can last at full health a lot longer or...?

No but you get 20 dust and increase the level of the gym

They don't reserve the berries. You just gain stardust.

Sometimes I obteined a candy ... I farmed 6/7 chansey candies in that way.
I don't know how that work exactly.

There's a very small chance that, aside from the stardust, they would give a candy if you feed them.

You can feed the mons of a Gym when you aren't there phisically too. You just need to have a defender there. And no, u cant feed a full motivation as a reserve berry.
