Anyone else upset Legendaries can't defend gyms?
I was really excited about the whole Legendary finally getting released up until I found out they can't defend gyms.
What was the whole point of the gym reworks? What was the point of having only one species per gym if you can't add Legendaries?
Gyms could've gotten a little better. Now gyms will still have junk in them while the opposing team tears them down even easier with their Legendaries. Could've been somewhat a challenge to take down if Legendaries were allowed. The one specie per gym could easily work, but instead they worry about all the FWT (Fair Weather Trainers; trainers that only play during events).
Did they not wanna hear them complain about how everyone else grinded, saved their rare candies specifically to power up the Legendaries and place them in gyms? How they can't beat them cause THEY didn't play long enough cause they lost interest. Why do the players who have dedicated their time to this game keep getting the short end of the stick?
Perfect example in the video. Raids are never that crowded. And look at all the players not knowing anything on the Pokemon they're battling. Relying on the few who grinded to do the work while all their Pikachus and common Pokemon faint, but they can rejoin anyways and get an opportunity to catch the same Pokemon with no contribution except to yourself by making your backpack not as heavy from all the revives and potions consumed.

It was just a video I don't think it's an accurate representation of what mons will be used to battle a legendary player, even for the "FWT." I could honestly care less that they aren't gonna be gym usable, Atlesst in the current meta. If it was the old meta I'd say they should be gym relevant, but in this meta I wouldn't wanna waste a legendary by letting it sit in a gym anyway.
No, I'm not. Mewtwo for example would cross the magic 3000 cp barier already at lvl 23. Do you still put a 3000+ cp Pokémon in gyms? I haven't seen much of those lately.
From my perspective the whole aim of the new "one-species-per-gym" roule is to put an end to all those boring blissey towers. The new gym system is designed to keep casual players (who eventually become regulars and/or paying players) and to remotivate players who put the game down due to gym stagnation.
Niantic is a company and not a welfare institution. Their main interrest is to make money and sell their game (or stuff ingame in this case). So all the fuzz about the aniversary and the release of legendary raids fits in the sceme to reactivate old accounts and getting new players taking up the game. 'cause every new one or reactivatet player is a potential customer to the ingame shop. Of course, dedicated players spend money to (mostly on raid passes and incubators) but despite all the complaines about the new gym system and raids (most of them by dedicated players) those players keep playing and buying, thus flushing money in niantics pockets. As long as their changes increase the money they make, why would they change their strategy?
Yep, I place all my 3k plus mons in gyms still .
I think you're getting the gym rework confused a bit. The one specie thing was mainly because of two things: Timeouts due to Blissey.
So many players couldn't beat a high enough Blissey so they added the motivation system . Now you will never have to face a truly powered up Blissey anymore because it's CP depletes eliminating time outs eliminating complaints.
If you think so. sight But you say it yourself "Not being able to take one down, which lots of people can't still"
=> stagnating gyms and lots of people unhappy with the situation. That's a problem if you want to make money.
Solution:
if multiple blisseys (or other strong Pokémon) in gyms cause the problem (which they did, no mather what you may say about people) then the easiest way to do so, is to allow limited numbers of each specimen. The motivation system is, in first instance, of no relevance here.
Sure, you can't blame the "few" dedicated players that they figured out how the game works and focused on gaining/keeping the upper hand. They're rightfuly angry. But keeping those "few" happy will bring you less money than keeping the majority happy and it would degrade your game to a niche game.
- It is OK, whether Legionaries can be put in any GYM or not. Legionaries are not your COIN machine in other words.
- As far as I know, things may change from time to time. For example, There may be new premium GYM system in future which will be different from present ordinary GYM.
- I have experienced recently some of my pokemons (Snolax, 2 nos) stuck in local GYM due to some glitch even through the GYMs had been taken hundreds of times, my pokemons did not return until a couple of days ago. It is very frustrating during the period.
- 1st of all, can we guaranty to get one of them? Catch them 1st. :-D
I really hope it changes again cause right now, no one is really doing the gym scene anymore. Only attention gyms get are when Raids pop up. If a level 4 , then last few minutes is when everyone is trying to get gym control for the extra 2 balls. That's the only time it seemed like players really want to place good defenders.
The only reason I care a little bit (but not that much) is that we won't be able to show them off,
I can relate to that, my 3 shiny gyarados have stayed in gyms ever since I evolved them... Maybe they will come up with a way to show your legendary, kind of like a buddy, while your trainer is in a gym with another defender.
