Base stat question: How to calculate bulk?

I have two perfect IV Pokémon: One Lapras(Water Gun+ Hydro Pump) and a Steelix(Iron Tail+ Heavy Slam). Between these two, Steelix has only 150 base HP and 333 base Defense. On the other hand, Lapras has 260 base HP and 180 base Defense. My question is which Pokémon will survive longer in battle? I don't know which one is bulkier. If I add the base stats Steelix has a better total(150+333=483) compared to Lapras(260+180=440). But if HP is the only factor, Lapras is bulkier. I need to defend gyms. I just need the information of the process of calculating bulk. So, a little help?

Tankiness( bulk) is measure of the amount of damage pokemon can take..is it calcualted by multiplaying the defence and hp...in short :)

in my opinion steelix have more bulk .)

I simulated your Steelix and Lapras vs a C/DP Machamp considering all with perfect ivs and level 30. Both are weak to Fight 1.4xDamage.
Steelix: defeated remaining 89.497s;
Lapras: defeated remaining 89.898s.

Looks like Steelix can survive a little longer in the same conditions.

Following what he said:
Steelix_Bulk = SteelixHPxSteelixD = 49950;
Lapras_Bulk = LaprasHPxLaprasD = 46800.

So Steelix is more bulk, but a difference of 3150 resulted on +0,401s of surviveing in this case.

In that case, there isn't really a difference, so I would go with whoever deals more damage.
