I have a Cloyster with the following stats that was pretty much an afterthought for me because the DEF and ATK base stats did not make up for the low stamina. With the huge buff to the DEF base stat, how viable is Cloyster as an attacker and defender? Will the new DEF stat cover the HP weakness?

Cloyster IV 82.2%
Ice Shard/Hydro Pump

Move set is B rated for attacking and A rated for defending

I am a little confused at how the DEF buff is going to play out in gyms vs the low HP. I am just starting to get a little better at dodging so primarily am only dodging the charge attacks so far. Not sure mine specifically is worth powering up, but am curious how Cloyster is going to fit in with this high DEF.

I didnt understand his buff too...why this huge defense for a ridiculous hp? =(. I have a 91.1% one Frost Breath/Blizzard.

Same here. I also have a 91% with that moveset that I have never powered up. I'm tempted to do so, so I have another Dragonite killer. Don't know what to do.

Same here. Mine has Ice Shard/Blizzard. But I don't see how the def buff plays with the ridiculously low hp it has. I really have no idea what to do with it. Mine is at level 20, and I have plenty of candies. Just not sure if it's worth the stardust.

There is nothing to understand, because thebuffs and nerfs were not tuned individually, but the formula, that translates the PKM-original-stats into Pokemon-Go stats was tuned. Now, the original "Speed"-Stat has a moderately higher impact on Attack and Defense, and consequently fast PKM (alakazam, gengar.....) got a buff, slow PKM (Slowbro, Grasses) got a nerf.
