What naming convention do you use?
A few posts recently have led me to think about this in a different way. Please explain the naming convention that you use and why. Give an example or two.
Mine:
I use an ASCII character for identification of defenders and attackers. I use the exclamation point(!) for defenders, and the at symbol (@) for attackers. The symbol is then followed by the mons MS, and then the IV value.
Examples
! DB/DP 64 is the name of a level 17, CP 1669 D'nite that I throw in gyms as a defender. It's a crappy mon that is only good for getting me coins.
@ DB/O 100 is a level 34.5, CP 3300 D'nite that is strictly for attacking.
For a mon that I really have no special use for, but I don't want to get rid of, I don't use any ASCII symbol.
So, P/P 87 is a Blissey that I am just holding onto for possible future use.
With this naming convention, I can sort by name, and my Defensive mon are all at the top of my list, followed immediately by my attackers. Since I have the MS in their names, I can go according to the type of mon, and then to the moveset to determine who should be in my attacking squad. Especially useful to separate the MS/Eq, MS/SE, and all the RS/anything Rhydon from each other. Or Eggy's with BS/SeB, BS/Sob, Es/Sob, etc.

Puns. Only puns.
I'm serious about that, but also, seriously:
I get that such alphanumeric designations are cognitively and organizationally useful, but it's all so...sterile. These are my Pokemon, not molecular proteins or anonymously named star clusters in the far-flung Dispassionate Nebula.
"C'mon, Arm's Way, we've got a Blissey to take down."
"Hey, Sub Mitts, wanna play with a Tyranitar?"
"Stratusfear! I could really use your claws against this Dragonite!"
"Sonofapinch! This Egg is giving me a hard time. Bring me the scissors!"
I know their moves because I know them. That's what I'm talking about.
Those are some really great names!
I also prefer names over stats, and like yourself I find that I don't need the stats anyway because I just know them.
I know perfectly well that Sun Tzu has Confusion/Solar Beam, Tiamat has Water Gun/Hydro Pump, Sheitaan has Fire Fang/Flamethrower, and I know their IVs.
They're like beloved characters in a favorite cartoon.
I want to be able to sort so that all my attackers are together at the start, for adding to raids and gym attacks. So all my attackers have names starting with '!', followed by a number, '1' being the best attackers.
For example, my 96% Dragonite with Dragon Breath / Outrage is called '!1DragAC96%'. Here 'AC' is the attack and defense rating from Gamepress.
I put (*) followed by the IV percentage (only do 91s and up) then A/D/S. Only went this route cause I play on iPhone and can't put all those crazy symbols for different movesets like that umbrella for water attacks. Since I've been playing for over a year now like a lot of you, I'm glad I can't . Looks more organized plus if you really play, you'll memorize which Pokemon has what moveset; or should at least by now. Then just look at the individual IV stat and go from there.
Quick Move if it matters (like I do it for Eggy, but not Tyrantir as every Tyrantir I have powered up has bite)
Charge Move
Hps. This is critical one. I hate wasting potions and not having topped off pokemon. A dragonite wth 145 hps, revives with 73 and means I use 4 potions. A pokemon with 138 hps, revives with 69 so it means one super + one potion.
I don't put IVs anymore on fully evolved / powered up stuff. I will still put it on say a level 20 Eggy or an Eveee so I can tell which I want to power up or evolve. For these I do attack-def+hp. So 14-28 for example. I've never seen a need for seperating Defense+HP. And once they are done (30/Evolved), IVs are wasted space.
I don't put levels, because I never ever leave a pokemon at level 29. If dust is under 5k, I know I can power it up. When dust hits 5k, I power it up twice to be 30.
My naming convention is very similar to OP. I use ! first for defenders, and & first for attackers (i used to split defenders with multiple symbols based on their tier, but it seems pointless after the recent update, so now i lump them all together). Only difference from OP is also include the pokemon's level in the name.
Example: Dragonite with Dragon Breath and Dragon Claw at lvl 30 with 93.3% iv would be:
&30 DB/DC 93
I put a number for the IV % only if it is very high, or if I want to keep track for future evolving purposes.
I often put two letters for the move types (e.g. DE for dark/electric) if it is a mon that can have various move types.
Examples:
"Kabutops BW" has a bug quick move & water charge move
"Golem 98 RR" has 98% IV's & double rock moveset.
"Starmie" has WG/HP, because that is my default moveset for Starmie.
A lot of mons don't get named at all, because either I can remember what I need to know about them, or I don't care enough to name them.
I have MS abbreviations for the attackers I would plausibly use in a raid. I am going to make a class of fighters that are strong enough to help clear a gym while at half strength (2300vapes, 2100exegg, 2400Rhydons w/ MH, 1900 jolt etc) but not valuable in a raid. Haven't decided whether to favorite them or name "4ttack" so they jump to the front. I have ZERO potions.
I keep mine simple AA for attackers AB for defenders (used to be the other way round before the rework) and used to have AC for prestigers) I will add another A for optimal moves and IVs, so AAA I can usually just look at a mon and know the moves straight away. I just sort alphabetically, and pick what I need for the task. I also used to have a special '100% :(' section for my failed 100% evolutions, like my low kick/drill run Rapidash....now these have been added to my 'TM1' and 'TM2' sections.
