Thoughts about legendary raids

I am a bit concerned about legendary raids. If they are as hard as pokebattler suggests, there would be 20 to 30 good players be needed to do one of those. This is more than the active player base in my home town provides.
I have a big city (more than a million people) in 1 hour car-drive-range. I think i will need to get the information as soon as a leg-egg occurs (from so called "social media") and then drive there. Time will not be sufficient to wait until the pokemon is hatched.

The second thought is, that Niantic would have to open battles for more than 20 players at once and make battles more stable too. This seems to be non-trivial, raids are still not really smooth with many players, it will not be better with even more players.

Since this system started in my town the max people we have managed to get to a raid was 11 (on the first Tyranitar that spawned). So no way we gonna be enough to beat a legendary. I really hope they are thinking of a system for lower density areas, but don't count on it.

Niantic does not care at all about small places, they have showed in the past and I am pretty sure they will show it again with legendaries.

And I don't think driving to the city is an option because as my experience most of the time people start raids as soon as the egg opens, I have get to Tyranitar's and Snorlax's 20 mins later and there was no one there already.

By the time I get to the city, park and get to the raid spot then everyone would have done it already. And of course the need of using a third party app would be necessary, do you know how contradictory you are in your own game Niantic? You don't want me to use third party apps to find the gyms where the raids are at, but at the same time is the only option you leave for a ton of us. Nice one!

I would go there when the egg appears. This is 2 hours before the raid starts.

The third party app "Whats App" would be sufficient. All we need is to know a player in this city who has access to those groups in his city.

I think they will use a different system fir legendaries, more rare, more advanced notice and probably some ither aspects.
Using current raid system will be too unpectacular from my point if view. But I agree will be hard for players from areas where is hard or impossible to get 10-15 high level and 10 other casuals.

Yeah that would be tough.

I'm not going to lie though, it would be a little comical to see those folks who shouted down the semi urban players and their complaints with "this game isn't designed for you" get pissed when they find out that apparently the game is designed for anyone but those in the top 50 cities worldwide.

To be realistic, folks will make battling bots that can be raided up and fight with them in no time. It's probably already being worked on now.

The capital, including metropol area is with ~ 330.000 people. The nearby town to place I live is with 10.000 people ( 10th largest town in a country) and so far although I am now almost daily in a town I never had a luck for any raid as I was always alone. I have been following some local pokemon go forums and found that a raid 4 is quite a challenge as gathering e.g. ten players together is very rare. I was in a capital few times, tried to join level 4 raids but was always alone even in the most tourist and vivid area of the town. Maybe I was just unlucky but regarding the situation I can not imagine raid 5 and a group of 20+ people participating, not even group of 10... an as I posted before ... gyms are very empty or with mons without the stimulation - depressive black hearts mostly. Definitely the game is dying very fast.

one thing that could make it a little better is if legendaries had longer then normal incubation times say 6-8 hours.

For me, Silph Road's Radio would actually be extremely useful for Legendary Eggs. 1.) people will know it's a legendary, who cares what legendary
2.) it is not useful right now because majority of players only want a specific pokemon in a level 4 raid.

Little sympathy here from someone who has yet to do a successful tier 4 for lack of players :(

I've been to 10 tier 4 raid gyms and have been the only person there at all 10 of them. There may have been spoofers, but I'm not going to waste my daily raid pass to find an empty lobby on a tier 4.

Has anyone thought about network reliability and stability during such local events (Chicago or at shopping malls)? From my experience with other festivals, it's hard to get a continuing signal and the networks crush ofthen. That's on festivals where not every single attendant uses data all the time. I would expect the mobile network and a possible local WLAN to crush continuously on a event where every single one is using data all the time.
