Charizard vs. Flareon

I got a Charizard from the raid, however, I also have a Flareon. which is better? given the same moveset and level. CP-wise Flareon is better. Any advantage with Charizard?

I know there is a youtube video showing that their damage is very similar. I would probably go with Charizard because he is a bit bulkier and he has double resistance to grass. Plus he looks cooler.

I agree. Charizard also has double resistance to bug and ground, as well as most of the other normal resistances shared with Flareon. Ground is super effective against Flareon.

Flareon has a higher attack stat and, with such, will have a higher CP.

A disadvantage to Charizard is that it picks up super effective damage from electrics. Flareon is only normal damage.

Oh, and subjectively, Charizard is just way cooler.

I don't think the resistances and weaknesses are a huge issue, as you will get to choose to use him against a certain pokemon or not (we weren't talking defense were we?) I just bring up grass because that is the main pokemon you will be attacking with him.

nah. I was just pointing out some more differences in case the OP cares.

I use both (and actually powered up a FS/O Flareon to 30 today). But I'll always have a soft spot for Charizard.

I had a maxed out ember/flamethrower Flareon for defense, so I TM'd him and made him fs/ft, so he is my go-to. My Charizard has wa/ft and I'm not going to touch legacy moves. If I was starting of scratch, with the same resources, I would go with Charizard.

Charizard also has double resistance to bug and ground

Flying type mons get double resistance to Ground, but as you note Ground attacks are super effective against Fire type mons. So since Charizard is a Flying/Fire type mon, this would equate to single resistance versus Ground attacks, rather than double resistance.

I'd say that they are similar in performance. Though most people have more eevee candies for power ups

Charizard has lower attack stat, but is still almost as fast as Flareon.
Charizard isn't actually bulkier than Flareon, it's because Charizard double resists grass and bug compared to Flareon's single resistance.
