Are Ivs so Relevant?

In the original games you were forced to get perfect IV Pokemon in order to take advantage of the full mon potential, attacking first was a priority, so, Ivs are so relevant in PoGo? Since now very high Cp are not important in the gym system neither on attack

We don't know what the future brings in this game, therefore it is always safest to invest in the highest IV pokemons, as after the introduction of TM's, IV's are the only thing you cannot change about a pokemon.

Yes & No.

Odds are very very few pokemon will ever be leveled above 30 anymore. The dust cost is too prohibitive

Few pokemon are going to be leveled from 20 to 30 anymore. Tyrantir, Dragonite, Machamp, then yes if you are going to invest dust in Pokemon IVs matter.

Many pokemon are going to fall in the just evolve the level 30 and go with it. Rhydon for example. Eevees,

Other pokemon are going to fall into just evolve whatever, toss it in gym and don't revive it. Oh wait, with the update this is 95% or more of the dex

Reviving is the easy part, potions are ridiculously scarce, so a bunch of 2600-2800+ vaporeons fighting at half strength is my local gym reality

Assuming this current meta sticks around, IV really doesn't matter as much.

Level matters more than IV (although you really don't want a pokemon with IVs tooooo low because you do get a decline in power).

However, as a general rule, I don't throw out anything with IVs greater than 80% -- in case they're ever useful again.

this is a now vs. future question.

as for now, nothing matters except showing up for a level 4 raid with 10+ people and winning easy no matter what mon you use. winning gyms is simple and defending even more simple.

future? who knows. maybe there will be something competitive again.

My lvl 37.5 Exeg with bs/sob has 7 attack. That means only at lvl 39 he deals max damage with bullet seed vs a Vape boss. So Attack iv does matter.
Both my lvl 30 Espeons have 9 attack iv and 14 or 15 on the others. They need lvl 35,36 or 37 to deal max with conf or zen vs. gengar and machamp boss. No way to lvl them there. Eith 15 iv would have been around lvl 32-33. I would have done that.
So for me, yes, Iv in general and now attack one in particular matters.

From reading a lot of posts, IVs are just as important now, but for a different reason...People now prize ATT15 guys more due to damage rounding and if you wanted to raid with less people or less ideal mons, having higher IVs do help reach that break point sooner...(less powerups needed which is very expensive at the higher levels).

That said, with TMs, I think people are also being a LOT more picky since they can now "fix" their 100% mons so instead of using a 80% Machamp due to 20 failed evolve to get fight/fight, you now TM your 100% BP/HS Machamps and power that up instead.

At least that's what I am doing.

Exactly! Coming from someone who did 21 evolutions to get C/DP I was thrilled he was 80% with A14. Now I won't touch anything unless it's +90% and honestly to max out its got to be +96%
