Outrage vs. Hurricane

My fellow trainers... Can you please enlighten me regarding these two movesets? I rolled a Dragon Tail / Hurricane Dragonite not 5 minutes ago and I was wondering if I should use a TM to get Outrage. Is it really worth it? I know about Hurricane's efficiency in raid battles and dodging and stuff. I just want to know the difference between straight up DPS if I'm gonna use Dragonite as a general attacker / sweeper. Thanks in advance!

Outrage will edge out a bit in neutral match up. Both will excel in their own best match up. Hurricane is still great. Recommend not using a TM to reroll.

I'd be very happy with Hurricane. Right now it has the better raid matchups and leaves you less vulnerable for dodging in general, depending on your play style.

I have a DT/H Dragonite and I am not re-rolling. I have two Charge TMs right now and I will use them on something else.

I do not want Hyperbeam.

Math wise:

2 Outrages = 220 in 7.8 Seconds
1 Hurricane = 110 in 2.7 Seconds

5.1 Seconds = 4.5 DT. I tend to round down here for energy lost = 60 Damage and 36 Energy. Modifying Hurricane by that and you get

2 Outrages = 220 Dam / 100 Energy = 2.2 DPE
1 Hurricane = 170 Dam / 64 Energy = 2.65 DPE

The biggest issue with 2 bar vs 1 bar moves is with 1 bars you are far more likely to waste energy. Whether that waste is extra energy after you fill up your first 100/Hurricane or extra energy after the opponent dies. This cuts into the Hurricane DPE edge and is why most sites have Hurricane as 97% of Outrage.

Agree with previous posters. I have two HB Dragonites that are in line for a charge TM. I'll be happy with either Hurricane or Outrage. I certainly wouldn't reroll Hurricane for fear of getting HB again. And given my luck with evolutions in general, that's exactly what I'd get.

It Is SE against Champ, Eggy, ven

Hurricane is still solid, especially for soloing Machamp in raid. While it's less energy efficient, it'll get a 25% bonus against Machamp and won't leave Dragonite vulnerable to quite as many charge moves in solo raids.

Oh well. Sorry for the late reply. I just want to thank you guys for your inputs. I'll probably hold on to this then. I'd settle for any STAB moves especially witha super hard Pokémon to get like Dragonite but having the power to potentially change movesets to get their best DPS moves is tempting.
