Gym ownership question

So I spent some time taking down a fully motivated Valor gym with 6 regular (not junk) defenders and right before I was done a raid egg appeared on top. I put in a shiny gyarados (this is a high turnover gym, it won't get stuck) and - to my surprise - the gym color never changed from red to blue!

It behaves like a Mystic gym (didn't give me an option to battle), but I was by myself so I don't know if other Mystic players may now join, Valor, both (which would be crazy) or neither.

Has this happened to you? If team affiliation cannot change before an imminent raid battle, why did the game allow me to defeat it and place a mon? I have to add there were lots of network errors, is that the reason?

I have no idea what to say. That is just weird.

I had the same issue, after restarting the game the gym had the right color

Yes, there appears to be a bug. I'm currently looking at a Instinct gym that was taken over after the egg appeared. The gym stayed blue on the outside, but if you open it there are two Instinct defenders with a yellow symbol above them.
