My first level 4 raid experience - kinda funny story
So after doing a level one & a pair of level 2's by myself, I decided to try a level 4. I assumed there'd be other players there, which I was correct about...
I didn't know any of these trainers because we're visiting my wife's home town in North Texas. Interesting mix of trainers! There was a 12 year old boy (being supervised by his dad,) a middle aged woman, and a guy roughly my age (who admitted to taking down my Vape who was stationed at a remote trail for 3+ months!)
The raid champion - Snorlax! The people I walked up on had just tried to take it on with 3 trainers. I joined in the next round and we tried with 4 trainers. Close, but not cigar.
Then the middle aged woman's husband rolls up. She had called him to come help win the raid. We figure with 5 players we might have a chance!
We just get started when we noticed 2 more people roll up. A mom and her 12 year old daughter. We figure they're coming to help in the raid and we had just begun, so we bail out and wait for them.
At this point in the time the husband (who just showed up!) gets in a huff and leaves. He said something to the effect of, "I don't have time to sit here and play this game. I need to go home and eat." Husband of the year right there.
So now we're down to 4 players again. BUT, there's 2 on the way, so it'll be 6...
Mom and 12 year old finally catch up to us. We find out that the Mom is going to join but daughter can't because she burned her raid pass catching a Magikarp.
So now we're down to 4 AGAIN! At least we thought, because then the 12 year old boy can't get in because his phone is crappy.
Down to 3 players.
Guy my age then gets a phone call and has to bail to take it.
Down to 2 players.
UGH!!!!!! Had we just stayed at 5 when we started battling we might have won that sucker.
Obviously I noped right out of there and went on my merry little way. No winning that raid for me today, but maybe next time.
I like how the Raid system is bringing strangers to work together. I'm hoping when I get back to Austin I can find a more reliable group to take down those level 4 Mon's, and eventually, some Legendaries!
