It will depend very much on the frequency of raids. With one free raid pass and less then one additional from in-game coins, many players will do not even two raids per day. Today, I passed by dozens of raids already, ignoring most of them. I used up yesterday's pass on a raid that got spoiled by spoofers and am saving today's pass on tier 4 raid hopefully to appear at some time.

Are you meeting more players with new update?
I think the main purpose of this new update was to get more collaborative game play. With the raids, I think it will work.
I played at the mall yesterday and recognize the the name fighting in the gym with me, but no idea of the hundreds of people on the two level mall who it actually is. It will be interesting meeting peeps you have been fighting against in local gyms where no one else is around. Hopefully there are not all spoofers.

There were 2 raids nearby. 1 Bayleef, 1 Magikarp. I really wanted a Bayleef even though I knew the karp was easier, and I already got a fishy buddy anyway at 98% IV. So I chose Bayleef.
I was kind of late to the raid, so I didn't see anyone there, not even a spoofer. Soloed a Bayleef, beat it with only a 1518 Charizard. Earned 2 Rare Candies, some revives, then caught the Bayleef at 722 CP with a possible 84% or 91% IV maxed HP. Took me 3 tries and 3 normal razzberries. Had 11 Premier Balls, so wasn't a problem. Planning on trying to get a Premium Pass and searching other mons I lack.
Yes. I met zero before the rework. Today I met two. I approached them because I was desperate to partners in taking down a level 4 raid Rhydon. Noone else was around. Unfortunately, the three of us were not enough to take it down. The other two were not hardcore players, so I'm not sure I'll see them again. No contact info was exchanged.
Taking down a level 4 raid is going to be next to impossible in my small town. I just don't see 5 decent players ever being there at the same time.
