Are Generalist attackers the biggest winners?

I know there was speculation that generalists may lose their importance with STAB being less important and SE damage being more important. Raid battles aside, I think a set team of 6 is the only way to go...

Between the battling I did last night, and just now at the park with my kids, I noticed that gyms so are easy to take down with the decaying cp. Match-ups are almost irrelevant after the second time around, as your pokemon have such a massive advantage (your 2500-3000 cp pokemon vs their 1500 cp pokemon.) I wasn't even switching out my Rhydon vs Vaporeon or my Venusaur against Flareon, as I could take them out so quick.

My conclusion is that to take down a gym as fast as possible, you are only looking for the highest dps pokemon to blow through the weak team.

This is only true if someone doesn't come by and put more berries or more mons in the gym when you are attacking...It's probably bugged, but I was tearing down a gym today and someone can by and put 2 more in...then berried everyone up...

All your previous work is GONE when that happens...

Yeah, well if that is the case, no pokemon, good match-up or otherwise, is going to do anything at all...basically it is an impossible task as long as they have berries...

Def need strong type attackers if you want to take down strong raid bosses. Machamp is a great choice for many of the elite ones (Blissey, snorlax and tyranitar). I have one maxed out and plan to max another when I get a quick move TM.

After 1 or 2 wins, defenders are so weak that even attacking with grass into fire or water into electric doesnt matter.
Pokemon defenders with 2x weakness are insane easy to defeat now.
