My problem with the game.
I thought I'd rant about a few aspects of the game with a few questions at the end, you can read both or just skip to the questions.
This game could be so much better. The mechanics for gyms are absolutely terrible, not to mention the absence of even a semi-helpful way of tracking Pokémon. On top of that, only a small portion of all the Pokémon are even worth using. This is nothing new, in the original games stats were present and certain Pokémon were clearly better than others, but if you wanted to use one that wasn't necessarily the best you could, but you had to be more strategic. With this game it's simple, if you don't have anything listed or seen as good, don't bother. There's no strategy, which is fine because the game is for mobile and should be simpler, but why did they keep it so that only certain Pokémon are even decent? What if someone doesn't have a Snorlax, Dragonite, Lapras, etc.? Do they just not play the game? I have a Dragonite, but I only got it after walking +100 KM during the Halloween event. Not everyone has the time or luck to get rare Pokémon. If a player has a suboptimal Pokémon of a particular type (Rapidash, Blastoise, Vileplume, etc.) and probably won't get the optimal Pokémon for a long time, should that player really wait for god knows how long to get those better, usually harder to find Pokémon? And what if the moveset isn't even good? Better yet, why on earth is there no way to teach new moves? I hope they implement something, I mean this isn't something new to Pokémon... they're move tutors in the game. I could go on, but those make up the bulk of my issues. I'm probably going to just walk with this game open and that's it.
Am I the only one frustrated with this? What do you think should be done?

there is new tracking system, but they need time to apply to every country, just wait
if u talk about gym battle, all u need is type advantage and move set, i dont see how those rare pokemons are different from the others, well, PVP is a different story
i think there will be a chance for us to learn new moves, but not too soon, at least months after gen 2 released
things go quick wont last, and we all know they have limit manpower to go through every details, its been 3 months of playing GO, i still enjoy it like the first day
I agree with your post. Although even with dragonite, you can use other pokemon to counter and strategize. Ive used arcanine, victreebel, vileplume, vaporeon, and charizard. Yes, I was lucky to hatch one snorlax and a lapras, but I mainly don't use them unless i want to win quick. I use nidoqueen with bite and stone edge to kill dragonites or dewgong. Its ok to have dragonite, snorlax and lapras, but it gets really boring once you have it and its not like their gods. My 3000 dragonite can only go through 2 pokemon before fainting. With vaporeon, I can go through 3 arcanines because of weaknesses to water. So thats my two sense, its not the end of the world if you don't have them. Substitute for snorlax could be wigglytuff, sub for lapras is dewgong and sub for dragonite, well there isnt any lol.

The other mons are great for prestiging....Typically, when I check out the gym near my house before my morning errands, if it's in my team's colors, I see what I have that would be great to prestige against. I tend to go for < 1/2 CP so there are tons of uses for those Rapidashes, Blastoise, etc...which all typically come with lower CP.
You have someone leaving a 500 CP jinx and it's to the gamepress site to research and see what I can use to type counter/prestige against it. Sorta a fun part of the game for me since I can try out all the new mons out as well as possibly some high IV low CP mon (I do have a 98% Jolteon with only 600CP).
You also end up finding pretty cool mons to use like a fast Pigeot or Golem doing super effective on Arcanine and resisting their attacks.
I know my kid and spouse is upset not having a Dragonite and all that, but once you get over it and don't 'care', plenty of the other mons are useful and the game is still fun. Maybe not the best, but very playable IMO.
Course, I deleted the tracker apps even when they worked since I sorta felt bad to use them since the magic in the game was sorta gone when I had them and felt wrong to me to play with.
Again, I am in the "don't care" I don't have a Dragonite camp...
