Type based Gyms

How "cool" would it be to throw together a gym with same type mons, like the old games? Seeing a lot of CP doesn't matter, so get 6 trainers together, and put some "high" CP bug/grass/water/fire/etc gyms out there.

Just think if you walked up on a gym and saw-
Scizor (+2000CP)
Pinsir (+2000CP)
Scyther (+2000CP)
Forretress (2000ishCP)
Venomoth (1800ishCP)*
Beedrill (1500ishCP)**
-in it? I would be impressed, lol.

*Heracross (+2000CP, if you got'em)
**Butterfree (replacement)

Would be easier with water/fire/grass, but might have to combine dark/fairy until Gen 3 for variation. Just a thought, nerd out

I was thinking of building theme gyms. Like a team rocket gym for example: Persian/Meoth, Wheezing, Wobbuffet, Arbok, Victreebell, Lickytung...
You get the idea :)

Honestly I personally would rather not have this. It would require even less of a already minimal mental component, as the squad needed to take it down would be of the same type (typically)
E.g., a poison type gym would get wrecked by a bunch of ground types

I'd rather have gyms the way they are (6 Pokémon, one species max) and have the AI randomly switch Pokémon out, to keep me on my feet

True, but also you can't collect rewards till they return, so...
And each bug/water/etc could have different weaknesses.
Ex:
Beedrill is bug/poison
Scizor is bug/steel
Etc
Lantern is water/electric
Gary is water/flying

Could figure out the optimal attacker.

Plus this was an idea for "how cool" not "best way to defend a gym

The only way this would be workable is if a Gym had a "Type" to it.

Let's say a Bug Gym that multiplied the base stats of every Bug Pokemon by 20%

This type bonus could work on both defenders and attackers. Some good Bug on Bug violence for fun.
