Which would you power up?

I have an 82% Slowbro with confusion/ice beam (ideal defending move set) and an 87% Poliwrath with rock smash/ice punch (also ideal defending move set). With CP not mattering as much as base stats and typing in the updated gyms, which of these two would you power up for a good defender? Thanks in advance :-)

Don't power up anything until the gyms are reopened and new data is collected.

Powering up anything now will just be a waste of stardust and candy.

Absolutely - we don't know enough about the new system yet to answer something like this.

The main reason is the new Motivation mechanic. There are potentially 1-3 parameters per species that get plugged into 3 or more unknown formulas to calculate motivation-related stuff. Plus, if raw CP is used in the motivation loss formula, you may not even want to power them up at all!

I've got both as well and will probably be powering up/maxing them both out, but as others have said, wait a little just in case.

Slowbro. Because Bubble may get its greatness back. Also Slowbro is just better.

Both. Regardless of CP deterioration, you'll want them to be tough and pack a punch. And to have various 'mons ready to drop in gyms.
