Variable target ring???

Has anyone noticed an abnormally-sized target ring when trying to catch Pokémon? I'm just making sure my game isn't glitching or something. I encountered a Xatu this morning and the target ring was huge (white ring went off screen). I remember throwing the ball and I got an excellent throw, but the color ring was big enough that the entire Xatu fit inside it. Usually, the white ring is rather small for Xatu, but certainly not bigger than the screen.

I also encountered a Growlithe today and the target ring was so incredibly small that the white ring was smaller than its head... I've been catching Growlithe all week and the white ring is usually big enough to encompass the whole Pokémon. Got a super tiny target ring for a Weedle as well. Those are the only times I can remember it happening.

I've since restarted the app and haven't noticed anything funny since restart, but it's only happened a couple of times and I forgot to get screencaps when it did.

Anyone else notice this or know if it's something new that was implemented?

I've noticed Eevee's ring has gotten a lot smaller. Guess it will be slightly harder to add to my 2000 candies now.

Yes, some catch rings are now huge, others are now tiny.

Yes! I came across an Ursaring first thing this morning and /good Lord/ was the ring massive. I tried to screenshot it, but it didn't work out too well.
