Volt Switch is God awful for offense. Charge Beam is the only viable quick move for Ampharos in the current meta. As a whole, he's woefully underwhelming. Jolteon is a hundred times better as an electric attacker, which is unfortunate. Maybe he'll get a buff next time Niantic decides to screw with the stats?

Ampharos attacking usage
Let me start with Ampharos looks super cool and obviously a super rare mon. I have a lvl 20 93% with VZ/ZC it shows A for both attack and defense. I ran a few sims it shows basically as same as CB/ZC.
I went out to use it thinking VZ would be like confusion tap/dodge repeat but man even just using it once gets you hit can't even dodge with it. It's way to slow for me which sucks bc I have gathered another 75 candies and was planning to power up to at least lvl 30 or higher maybe but honestly I feel my Jolteons are way smoother to dodge.
Anyone have experience with VZ that can either confirm or sway me the other way?

My Volteon has VS. I can dodge dragon tail no problem but I admit i cannot dodge every bite. You can avoid some of the slower heavy hitters. I like it because it only does marginally less damage than discharge.
After 4 volt switches I can unleash 3 discharges. Whatever I'm using Volteon on cannot withstand that barrage (powered up crazy high here).
I don't know how strong ZC is. It might perform better with an attack that has more charge bars
I hate both quick moves on Ampharos. You are correct about VS being very difficult to dodge with. I like it on Jolteon, with discharge, but that is basically just eating the damage, as someone else suggested. Just take the damage and unleash all 3 discharges. I think ZC is inferior to discharge when combined with VS.
On the bright side, you do have the best CURRENT defensive moveset. VS hits like a truck. He may be very good after the gym rework.
