Legacy moves worth powering up?
Level 35 Trainer
Have enough candies and dust to power these up (except for Charizard). Reason I'm asking is because I'm a little bored with the current gameplay and want more variety with my Mons, hah
Exeggutor - CP2513 - Level 31, 91% - Conf/SoB Exeggutor - CP2405 - Level 30, 96% - Conf/Seed Bomb Gengar - CP2200 - Level 30, 87% - Shadow Claw/ Shadow Ball Charizard - CP1995 - Level 26, Perfect - Wing Attack/Dragon Claw Kabutops - CP1415 - Level 20, 91% - Fury Cutter/Stone EdgeThanks...

I use my C/SoB Egg a lot against Blisseys, and for Snorlax. No question of value there. Then I would pick the Charizard. It would be fun to have, and if they do a gym rework with "type" based gyms and a limit per species, than that would be an excellent defender. Hard to dodge that DC. Last for me would be the C/SB Egg. Excellent defender moveset as well.
Worth powering up:
Exegg C/So -- Good attacker
Exegg C/Se -- Hard hitting defender, and an okay backup attacker. Good attacker if you are attacking with other players.
Okay, I guess, if you like them:
Gengar Sh/Sh -- Reportedly a strong glass cannon generalist, but there is no ideal matchup to throw it against.
Charizard W/Dc -- I suppose you could use this against Dragonites if you don't have any high CP ice types or Gyarados with B/Dp, B/O, or Dt/O.
Not sure why:
Kabutops Fc/St -- This always felt like a weird pairing to me. The pokemon weak to rock that I'd want to use Stone Edge against (flying types and fire types) are also resistant to bug. Maybe if Lapras was still in gyms more commonly.
Yeah, but still.
Are there any common gym defenders that you use rock against? Gyarados maybe. Is that worth powering up a Kabutops? Unless you are tired of your current attackers and just want to use something different, the only reasonable answer is to wait for now and revisit the question if/when the legendary birds are released.
Exeggutor C+So - yes for both attacking and defending. Should a rework come worst case is that Confusion only becomes good on defence, which was how it used to be.
Exeggutor C+Se - If the CP formula or base stats are changed, or the fundamentals of gyms are changed so that CP is no longer the only important stat, this is the best defending moveset on Exeggutor. Unfortunately a low max CP makes this not worth powering currently.
Gengar SC+SB - While technically a good generalist attacker, it doesn't really excel, even compared to the other glass cannons such as Alakazam, Espeon, Flareon et cetera.
Glass cannons are often used against Blissey or Snorlax to do most of the work while a second Pokemon finishes them off, but Gengar's ghost moves make him do reduced damage, and his poison typing makes him take increased damage against Zen Headbutt, the better defending quick move on Snorlax and Blissey. Basically it's the least versatile and the weakest glass cannon. But it does look the coolest.
Charizard - Not really. A bit too high for prestiging and less damage compared to other maxed out attackers.
Kabutops - Useful for prestiging against fire types in it's current state. Fury Cutter may be resisted but it's only used to build up energy anyway.
