Rare pokemon ban

In the last month I got soft banned twice because of GPS drift. I didn't knew this could happen back then, but now I'm aware I try to avoid it of course. But during the event I only caught geodude and slugma, nothing else with more rarity. I was in Bangkok during the event. Maybe the spawns are bad or I could be banned for catching rare Pokémon. Can I confirm this somewhere and yes how to get rid of it?

It sounds like you may have a 'shadow ban' that is Niantics new way to combat bots and scanners.

It appears false positives are rare, but this is not the first report of one I have seen - and I guess we may see more.

I believe you need to contact Niantic support, and try to get it liefted. All reports so far seem to say that it can get lifted but may take a couple of days.

Good luck...I hope this isn't the case for you.

For reference.

EDIT It is also possible to get 'shadow banned' by using 3rd party IV checkers that log in to your account. See the link I provided for more details

Thank you, I used IVfly but I logged out and removed the application just now. Do you have any idea if the shadow ban will be lifted automatically or do I need to contact support?

I would be contacting support personally.
It is not something I have experience with personally, so I can only tell you what I would do - I suspect they won't be lifted automatically.

Also, it might be worth checking your Google account and making sure the app no longer has permission.

I honestly doubt people are getting banned for GPS drift...

From all the posts I've seen here and on silphroad, it's always the IV Checkers which give access to your login to the third party app...

GPS drift seems extremely common when you are in parking structures, large office buildings, hotels, etc...

I hatched a 5km egg overnight in a hotel once so it's more than likely, the IV checkers...
