The "big 19" basic explanation – Vaporeon (week: 7-1) – A solid attacker/defender
Since one problem was solved, the explanation will be moved right back here.
Vaporeon, the meta-game defining defender, mostly because of its sixth highest base STA stat in Gen 1 and Gen 2, got its quick move nerfed.
Water Gun was better than Lick, but now Lick is better than Water Gun by 1 higher energy gain.
Vaporeon has a higher base ATK stat than Snorlax, but that doesn't help much that other pokémon's moves are slightly better than its on defense.
However, Vaporeon, due to Hydro Pump's buff, is also a good attacker into Tyranitar. It does 13.459 DPS while resisting Iron Tail as a bonus and hits it back with super effective damage, assuming both Pokémon are with 10/10/10 (67%) IV. The AT variant still performs alright, 12.357 DPS, compared to the WP variant, which only performs 11.071 DPS.
Next post, is still Vaporeon!
