So I'm looking at this Golem with 3 70 bars with STAB for Ancient Power and wondering how much different he would really be on offense versus my other ones. Anyone have one and use it? How does it compare?

I have one...as of today he is my 3rd oldest mon dating back to july 2016...but I still haven't powered it up (it's at 500 CP or something).

I did also ask this question before, if you have a RT/stone edge one, I think it's better to leave it this one as it is. I'm keeping mine for the legacy moveset 'nostalgia'. Combat wise, I don't think it is not the most practical but it definitely does not suck (not like twister on gyarados kind of suck)

Thanks. Yeah I do have a RT/SE one. I'm going to power him whether I power this one up or not.

My only Golem ever has that moveset, I powered him up and I'm very happy with his performance as a versatile generalist attacker.

Ancient Power's long duration might seem annoying, but if you perform it at the right time it will only leave you vulnerable to one quick attack from the opponent - same as Stone Edge. And you can use it three times more often.

Ancient Power is not that much worse than Rock Throw/Stone Edge. You just have that longer duration to wait through.

The ideal rock charge move is Rock Slide. But for whatever reason Niantic has removed Rock Slide from all worthwhile pokemon. Legacy Rock Throw/Rock Slide Graveler is great for prestige against fire types and flying types.

Sudowoodo with Rock Slide is an incredible prestiger too.

I transferred some prime high IV Ancient Power Golem's way back, and now wish I had kept them.

Either way I have a maxed 2700 RT/SE Golem that I use against Dragonites, and Gyarados. A fun attacker and rock/rock will only be more useful if Legendary Birds ever decide to make an appearance.

I also just evolved a 98% MS/RB Golem that I may max as a defender if needed after the gym rework.

I have both SE and AP Golem with RT. I do like both of them, but as said, I feel SE is better for attacking, and my AP is decent for attack, and not awful for defense. Depending on what gym rework does, AP might be worth while as a defender.
