Exeggutor with ZH/Solar beam vs Confusion/Solar Beam
I already have one high IV exeggutor with zen headbut /solar beam. It is around 2500 cp.
I recently hatched a 91% IV exeggcute which I evolved into an exeggutor with confusion/solar beam.
What I want to know is whether confusion/SB is better over all (considering defence and offence) than ZH/SB.
I want to use this second exeggutor for both offence and defence. I know confusion/SB is ranked highly for defence but is it far behind a exeggutor with ZH/SB in terms of offence?
I have enough candies/dust to take him to lvl 31.5 if I wish.

For me, confusion isnt really made for offense. Its extremely slow and could ruin your dodging. Also confusion/solar beam is pretty mediocre for defending since confusion is awesome but solar beam is too easy to dodge. Confusion/Physic or Seedbomb are way better but Confusion/Solar beam is close. If you can get exeggutes easily I would save my stardust and candies for something besides solar beam for defense but if not power it up as confusion is still powerful.
Getting exeggcute candies isnt easy for where I am at. I have just gotten lucky getting them through egggs.
Vaeporoens are so damn common that I need a 2nd exeggcute with SB for attacking. Is confusion that bad for attacking? Also I understand SB is a lot easier to dodge but does that make it that bad for defense?
It just seems to me that a confusion/SB eggie is good enough for both aspects. Am i mistaken in my belief?
No you are not. Solar Beam itself just converts your moveset into an offensive one. Confusion is almost as good as ZH, it works better on defense tho, but offensively it works great as well, and also generates engergy a bit faster. So, overall its a great moveset for both defense and offense.
I have a Conf/SB Exegg that use for attacking Water mons and it just melts them down.
I have confusion/Psychic and I find it workable on attack.
Zen headbutt is obviously better for offense, but confusion still functions. That said, you should always use the ZH eggy for attack before the Con one (only use Con if you need both). You should also always put the Con one in gyms before the ZH (unless ZH will place higher in the gym). I think they're both workable for both though.
Depends.
I would prefer defense (Conf/SB). But both of them are quite useable for attack and defense.
As long as you have less than 10 PM above 2400CP any exeggutor you can get up to this level will be usefull.
Depends #2
In my area the high max. CP alone would make them both very useful for defense. The 6 visble gyms around my place are blue since days and lvl 9/10. So moveset doesn't matter much, only CP.
For attack zen is better, but as i have more than enough revives/potions it doesn't matter that much. But time is a factor of course. I hardly ever dodge. I rarely attack lvl 9/10 gyms as they will be almost certainly taken over again after a few minutes.
At my place it is better to find a lvl 6-9 gym and power it up. Lvl 4 and below will usually swap fast and is hardly worth the effort.
Usually I even do not even adjust the proposed attackers.
Training/getting into a gym: Most important for me. Selecting 6 low CP attackers is a pain, but I have many of them and I have plenty of time to heal or transfer them.
So to really strengthen a gym drop a Snorlax, Lapras or Dragonite with good defending moveset.
Otherwise drop something with high CP.
For attack use something with good strength/potion ratio (exeggutors are fine). You should be able to beat the whole lineup of defenders.
For training use anything that gets you prestige quickly and with low potion usage.
But you should know this, as you seem to be lvl 30.
