These are my top guys right now. My entire time playing ive only collected about 210k stardust, currently at 182k. And I dont mind playing the waiting game... I think Exeggutor is pretty obvious and the Vaporeon is a good gym defender (I've already begun powering them up). Also working on evolving my 98% IV Ivysaur. I also have another 91% IV Growlithe with CP 750 that would evolve to a much higher Arcanine than my current one. Comes with the risk of getting worse moves, but I think it would save me quite a bit of star dust (at the expense of more candies). So who should I power up? And should I focus on the current Arcanine or the Growlithe?
I would power up the Arcanine and the Exeggutor, no doubt about it. Those 2 are tremendous attackers.
Don't bother about the other Growlithe, chances on getting a worse moveset are really high.
The rest of them have useless movesets. The Vaporeon can be useful on defense, but I wouldn't spend dust on a Vapo with Water Pulse.
The Exeggutor is the most obvious one, power it up.
Then the Vaporeon and Arcanine should both be powered up as well IMO - evolve the second Growlithe first and then decide which Arcanine to power up if you want.
I'd say no to both Blastoise and Vileplume, their movesets are not good enough. Same goes for Lapras, but if you think you can't get a better one, then go ahead.
I recommend only Arcanine if you want an attacker. Exeggutor is not that great as attacker even it has zen headbutt but for defend gym you can power up anything that have high IV eventhough you have a great move you still can't stop an attacker so you get as much cp you can get. Lapras with dragonpulse is really bad, spamming only BF is even do more dmg.
Personally I don't like ZH bcuz it hard to dodge , it was like you can do 2 atks for 1 atk from the defender but still not guarantee that you can have the time to dodge if I suppose to go on like this I better use confusion with no dodge instead. For me any pokemon that doesn't have room to dodge are all bad.
