Power up my Machamp?
I have an 80% IV Machamp (15 att, 11 hp, 10 def) that's level 25, 2013 CP and has Counter/Close Combat and am not sure whether or not to power it up.
I'm sitting at 71 candies and have a level 20 Machoke that's 1069 CP and 87% IVs.
I'm leaning towards powering up since Machops are quite uncommon in my area and the chances of evolving a better move set are low — not to mention I'd have a lot more candy farming in front of me if I was going to power up a different Machamp (assuming it would come from a hatched Machop).
Any reason I should hold off on powering the 2013 CP one with C/CC?

From my experience c/cc and c/dp perform similarly when attacking gyms; dp leaves you vulnerable for longer which hurts in certain match-ups where as cc gets the hit and allows for a dodge.
If you don't have any "generalist" attackers (e.g. Dragonite) then it is certainly worth investing in that machamp. One with better ivs won't have a functionally superior advantage; the difference is negatable.
And yes the likelihood of rolling a dual fighting moveset is 1/3 chance and like you said you would have a lot of candy farming ahead. The only difference DP offers is higher cyclical damage (but as aforementioned makes machamp more vulnerable) and it is better at defending due to its 2-bar charge status, and even then c/cc is ranked the second highest of all of machamp's movesets on defense.
Are you me? :)
So very strange...I have the exact same Machamp down to the moveset/level/IVs/everything...
Caught last Dec. and I evolved mine just after Gen 2 hit.
I left mine at Lvl 25 since it works well enough and with support, can clear out any Blissey already. Dodge bug still wrecks it, but I didn't want to use stardust/candies on one with 80% IVs.
Saving candies again after evolving another and getting BP/DP.
