So after some bad RNG luck (double steel machamp again lol) I've been blessed with a 96 IV Mud Slap/EQ Rhydon and a 91 IV VW/Solar Venusaur.
Both level 20 from egg hatches, and I really can't ask for more out of these two mons, but I already have a stack of other options, especially for the grass type.
I do not have a pure ground attacker. The closest I have is a 91 IV MS/SE Rhydon at 3061 CP (I usually use this as a gym placer)
I also have a MS/EQ Golem but the Rock throw stone edge one took priority.
However it seems like anything that can be solved by ground can be solved by water. And I have 4 HP Vapes and 3 HP Gyarados for that. I suppose it doesn't work for electric though.
As for grass, my other mons include a level 30 VW/Solar Venusaur (46 IV), RL/Solar Venusaur (87 IV), RL/PB Vileplume (89 IV) and Conf/Seed Bomb Exeggutor (93 IV)
However, I do have an incoming Confusion/Solar Beam Exeggutor, just not enough exegccute candy.
In the grand scheme of things I'll definitely power both them up eventually. But do you think I should do it now?
I'd power up the Venusaur, mostly because I've never gotten that move set after many evolutions and it's really helpful against Vape and Rhydon.
Rhydon is not a great attacker in my experience (too slow), so I'd hold on to your gym Rhydon and save the candies for evolution to Rhyperior (if you aren't hurting for other defenders). I have the exact same Rhydon (down to the IV), and I gave up on attacking with it a long time ago.
I would power up the Rhydon if you need another high CP defender. As a pure attacker I probably would not. Your Confusion Solar Beam Eggy could end up being a dual purpose mon. Good for attacking bisseys at high levels and/or putting in gyms depending on the CP of the Egg and what the gym situation is like where you live.
I personally have 3 MS/EQ Rhydons between 2955-3085 and use all three for defensive purposes. I have a 4th at 2798 that I am slowly powering up but it isn't a priority. Again will be for defense.
I have a VW/SB Venusaur that I'm powering up for attack. Love using grass attackers. So many vapes and Rhydons in gyms that it can do well on both of them.
I think that is a question you need to answer yourself. Do you find yourself short on attackers? I don't think you need to worry about Rhydon, and your grass attackers are more than I use and I take out level 10 gyms on a regular basis. I only use a 2200 cp Venusaur and a 1900 cp Tangela, and some 1200 cp Tangelas if I need more. If I had that Venusaur, I would power it up asap, but you already have some good grass pokemon.
