Funnest cities to play PoGo in?

Most places I've went to see to have a sharply declining player base. I'm curious to see if you guys know where player bases are still active. Game needs to find a way to introduce new players wouldn't hurt if they had some live events in every city. No one does group hunts anymore since that gets boring once everyone completes the dex. Group gym play is all right I guess?

How do I know places around me have a declining player base? The silph road and gym stagnation. Ons gym has a Gary sitting there at 2400 CP at the 10th slot for about 2 weeks now.

I think US major cities still have very active players and groups...

As far as "funnest" cities to play in, I love playing in Hong Kong and Singapore (I travel between these two countries/cities very often). These 2 places have very diverse biomes depending on where you go in them so you can catch Pokémon of every type! Lots of parks with nests!

Gym-wise though, super competitive. I was at a gym where the minimum CP was 35xx! Of course full of D9 and Rex only so easy to take down with Lapras and Machamps.

Gym activity and turnover in Singapore is very high. Even a level 10 gym would only last a few hours.

Well it still is kind of active in my city (Strasbourg, France), but we always meet the same players, and gyms are mostly contested by the same players... And tons of spoofers, as usual...

And as far as fun goes, it honestly is getting boring here: we don't get too many crazy spawns outside of lucky nest migrations, and gyms are... well... gyms...

As someone who travels frequently ive had the fun in playing in these cities below:

  • NYC, There is nothing like it. 24/7 lured spots and a unbelievable septuple spot that's always lured. Massive player base.
  • Connecticut, Great as long as you stay in the popular areas like Stamford. It can become empty very fast once you step outside Stamford. Most of the gyms I defend are here as they have less turn over than the ones in NYC.
  • Boston, Just strolling through Boston Common or even Faneuil Hall by the water can get some good playtime. Good player base. I say a defender usually lasts a few hours in a gym here.
  • San Francisco, Insane. Forget about getting gyms here, they only last seconds. The only good thing about this area is that new features and tests happen to roll out here first and more in line with event times.
  • Tampa, The last time I played here was before Gen 2 dropped. Cant wait to go back to get the exclusives.

After playing in a handful of major US cities (still have to visit a lot, though):

  • NY is far and away the best I've played in with regards to stop and spawn density. Great variety and the city is large enough that you will always find rares in some of the hotspots.
  • SF has a lot of good spawn variety and density in the downtown/etc areas but unlike NYC it's not really crazy all the way through more residential/suburban areas. You can always find Dratini along the water but frankly I farmed WAY more Dratini in NYC than SF.
  • LA has killer rock/fire spawns. Rhyhorn and Geodude are insanely common and Larvitar is basically uncommon. The city is super spread out so it's hard to generalize but it's not nearly as dense as NY or even SF.

Still would love to play in the Berlin mega-nest and I hear Paris has crazy Pokestop density.
