Meters lost?
If I do 50 meters while I'm catching/hatching/other stuff, are these counted for egg hatching/candy farming or lost?
If yes, is there a limit of the meters than can be counted in these situations?

You can totally do anithing (within the game) while walking and still get your distance. I usually evolve pokemon with lucky egg while walking so a I have all my eggs hatching on background for added XP.
Of course, you have to understand how the game tracks distance, so you gotta walk preferably in straight lines. Don't waste your time walking in small circles, the games tends to not track your distance optimally that way.
These past few days I've spent walking laps around my campus and the distance seemed to track fine. The app was always open and it worked when I was just walking or catching. One thing I did notice was that after awhile, the tracking seemed to be lagging. There is a lag no matter what, yes, but this lag was much larger. It would take almost half a lap for my distance to refresh! To put that in perspective, a lap is around 1.5-2 Km (for the game's distance) and it usually updates every .3-.6. I'm not sure what caused that but it was after walking 10 Km for that day. I haven't walked that much since so I can't tell you if it happened more than once. It's just weird.
