Worth Powering this Snorlax ?

(Now..firstly, I suspect the answer to this question is yes...but just want to get some feedback. Im not exactly swimming in Snorlax candy afterall.)

.
So, today I hatched a Snorlax, yay.
CP: 1888
82.2% IV: 15/12/10
Zen Headbutt + Hyper Beam
.

Pretty Happy with the moveset obviously, the first ive gotten with an actual decent moveset.

But slightly a shame about the IV's. However I know that in the case of a Snorlax with this moveset especially...I can let my IV standards slide alittle if I need too.

But with 34 candy, is it worth spending them all on this one ? hows the 15 attack IV, but just 10 in Stamina effect its defending effectiveness ? etc etc

(btw, the best Snorlax I have is a 91% Zen Headbutt + Earthquake, 2755 CP)

feedback welcome, cheers

Congrats on the great pickup.

Is this the only contender?

What CP are you looking for in your area to be competitive? 4-7ish in gyms.

Thanks. And out of my Snorlax, this is essentially the only contender yes.

I have my 91% one like I mentioned, but ive already powered it to lvl 29 (regardless off its sub-optimal moveset as I was very happy with its IVs)

my other few Snorlax are nothing too special, unpowered, sitting around 80% IVs with worse movesets... L+EQ etc

I suppose my area is pretty competitive. Some gyms can easy be full of several 3000cp ish pokemon nowadays, pushing anything 2800cp or lower to the bottom half of the gym.

Over the past few weeks, mainly since Gen 2 I recon, I have noticed that I have dropped down in some gyms that I have been in for maybe 2 or 3 months,

where I was initially at the top spot...or maybe 9th/8th in some cases, with around 2800CP pokemon, I am now sitting below the half way point instead of near the top.

Great detailed answer.

I assume you Iunderstand the very high cost to get this one in that 2800 limit or in the 2900-3000K safe zone? Very expensive for his IV. You will be donating agreat moveset to a gym (props to you btw) but sacrificing possible rewards.

That's up to you. If you have high CP options to cover the move that's better. You can place other mons that actually suck at defending where CP is king but save this one for what you want yo hold.

Or wait for a combo of great moves and elite CP but RNG means that could be tommorow or 3 months from now.

I hear ya.

Basically I do have a few high CP mons, but not a huge amount. Im currently safely sitting in 7 gyms, I can push 10 but its hit and miss if they stay there or not.

past 7, im starting to run out of stuff with a high enough CP (2700/2900+ sorta range)

so I could definitely use another strong defender, and like you say...I could stick him in gyms I want to hold..in my local Park most likely.

I am currently sitting on Dragonite evo, got 184 candy, and also patiently waiting for a good IV Larvitar...got 300 Candy :/

SO that will help once I get those two aswell.

Anyways...I do like the idea of having a Snorlax with the best defensive moveset. Its prob worth me goin for it.

The RNG is too much, You say 3 months...but I wouldnt be suprised if it took me 6 xD

You've explained your position very well, we are discussing fine points and rare RNG at this point. Sounds like you've made a good case for this specific mon earning you change by being powered up. So I'm with you, do it. Whatever may be drawn later will be what it is. Only special luck can make it a regretful decision and you still made the right decision for you at this time.

Simply Yes. My only Snorlax that I powered up past Level 30 is an 82% Snorlax with Zn / HB. I am level 35 and hatched almost 1000 eggs, and that was the best Snorlax I got (only 3 Hatched). So, you can wait again for a better, but I saw power that one up.

Those IVs aren't good enough on a snorlax with a great move set? You must have a lot of snorlaxes to choose from ;)

Of course power it up!

xD im just an IV Snob. Even though overall it doesnt really make much difference, I woulda been very happy with 87 or higher, but like I said, i can lower my standards for special cases like Snorlax :D

Congrats! Just like a week ago I hatched similar Lax, just a bit better IVs. At first I was disappointed, thought it was a crap moveset, but got back home checked IV calc and move ratings, saw GP ranks these as A for defense and powered it all the way up, well almost :0 Just had 37 candies, so he is only 2563CP atm, but I walk my attacker for candies. Do same thing, I guess & good luck.

15 att 12 def 10 stamina...

Definite power up. The CP you gain will come mostly from att stat then def then stamina.... So 10 stamina makes the least impact.

Without doing any real math work, I would say this snorlax is better than a 91% 11 att 15 def 15 stam.
