Are SW Dragons underrated attackers?
I saw my friend use a SW/Hu Nite tearing through some Blisseys and that got me thinking #1 is SW/Hu its fastest attacking moveset #2 do we underrate SW?

Nope, SW is one of the slowest (if not the slowest) attacking move. If he did a number using SW/Hu then he would love DT/Hu...I tore through 6 mons with one DT/H Dragonite. Granted it was level 36.5, but still. That's potion friendly fightin.
I have two other dragonites...
SW/DC and SW/HB. Both pretty good compared to non-dragonites. But as far as dragonites go they are too slow. SW/DC isn't too bad, but for some reason it's not as effective as DT/H
You need to get up to speed bro. SW is second fastest quick move. It's even noticeable on defense. Seems like you don't battle enough. And you sure haven't used your SW on offense since gen 2 dropped. What kind of trainer are you! Haha. Smh.
Btw, steamrolling through 6 defenders is nothing special. I can bet most of them were below 3k CP.
lol no really? Obviously Dragon quick moves are better but I see some people ready to send SW Dragons to the professor. Btw SW is not slow. DT/MS/C are all substantially slower moves. Counter the ideal moveset on Machamp is around the same speed as SW, so no SW is not slow. Obviously SW isn't optimal but it's also not junk lol.
I define slow as any dragon move slower than DB.
I only have DB dragonites as attackers, and can spam 3 DB in the same time it takes to do 1 SW.
As an attacker there is no comparison to DB but now that its legacy the closest option is DT for the benefit of STAB but SW does build the charge move quicker.
SW is indeed underrated because a large portion of players still think of SW like it was in gen 1 before SW was buffed to a much greater extent than most other moves. Now SW is the highest DPS quick move in the game (without considering STAB), and a higher than expected EPS given the damage level. SW is far better than it used to be in Gen 1, but with no STAB, it is still the worst Dragon quick move unless it it is SE against the defender. It is worse than the others by a small amount, rather than a huge amount like it was in gen 1.
If you get SW on steel mons, it's a very different story. SW/SA Skarmory is one of my favorite prestigers. It's easy to get through a Snorlax at 1/2 CP, with a good chunk of HP remaining.
