What about IVs for a defender?
Since the other thread was talking about IVs for attackers, what about defenders?
Lets ignore the CP part of it. I understand the higher CP the higher the placement in a gym.
I have a blissey which I'm maxing out with 12/15/15 att/def/sta.
Based upon whether it will KO or timeout an attacker. Would a 15/12/15 or 15/15/12 blissey be better or worse?

The CP formula is meant to be a mathematical approximation of effectiveness. It's obviously not perfect when comparing different types of Pokemon (due to different movesets, type advantages, and other issues), but I think it's better than people give it credit for when comparing the same species with same moveset (ie, the difference IVs make). So even if you ignore the aspect of gym placement, IVs that give you a higher CP will give you a "better" defender.
Blissey is the one possible exception, due to the possibility of a timeout. The 12/15/15 IV blissey is marginally more likely to cause a timeout than the other two. But otherwise, in terms of total damage done to opponent over the course of the battle (which is what CP roughly approximates), 15/15/12 > 15/12/15 > 12/15/15 (ie, A > D > S, as previously mentioned).
