Staryu - Hidden power

I guess that the question is how good is hidden power when it gets STAB. I have a Staryu with hidden power-water and hydro pump. Does hidden power benefit of STAB in this case? Is it a better move set than WG/HP?
GP hasn't updated the best moves for Staryu yet. I wonder if the reason is that they can't analyse properly hidden power?

Harder to dodge with, but may be better than WG depending on the flooring issue.

I have a Starmie with the same situation. Seems to work fine.

WG is going to be better for attack if you dodge at all. My guess is that HP(w)/HP is a B on attack. HP (water) is going to be better for defense than WG (at least B, possibly A).
